  1. Has anyone ever tried one of these, a burning bog!!

Why the hell is called 'Cindarella Freedom'? As you suggest, important to get the sequence of operation in the right order!
  2. Clever conversion

    Like the live wood table.
  3. Battery only lasts 2 years and a bit?

My vehicle battery shows signs of dying: voltage is reasonable, but the engine turns over so slowly I reckon it won't start one day. It's a November 2020 van, but mileage is crazy low - 6,000 - and was hardly used in the first year while I built it, so I'm thinking it's not been discharged and...
  4. Oddest Campervan Battery Bank so far ...

Are they on the Alpha site yet? Couldn't see them....probably being dim.
  5. Don't always trust tools!

You could do what aeroplanes do: have three testers and take the majority verdict!
  6. Webasto

Thanks for the replies, all. My friend didn't mention whether he'd had the electrics checked, so I'll ask him. As far as I know, there are no error codes. One "repairer" said "they all make loads of smoke and not to worry...."
  7. Webasto

Reckon so, judging by my mate's description. He said it filled one repairer's entire workshop with smoke too thick to see through.
  8. Amt12-2 oddity

Hmmm. £78 is a bit expensive I’d have thought: a tool if you install these for others but perhaps not if you’ve just got one of their gizmos. Shame, I do like a nice bit of monitoring….
  9. Amt12-2 oddity

PS… Not sure I’ve seen this. Is it something Ablemail do?
  10. Webasto

Asking for a friend (yes, really). He had a Webasto diesel heater fitted to his VW Bilbo conversion a few years ago and it’s never been quite right. It now billows white smoke all the time. He’s been to there different places to get it looked at, they all say they’ve fixed it - but still the...
  11. Amt12-2 oddity

Yes, and it also has an ability to keep the vehicle battery from dropping below 12.2v so long as the LB is above 12.4v (IIRC). Ive found mine is also slightly ‘out’. My VB is kept at about 12.16 rather than 12.2v, but that’s ok.
  12. Change of website name, Maybe...

Just wondered - was there a conclusion? Seems to be 8:4 against a change.
  13. A series worth watching ....

Yes, I've seen him before - as you say, lots of lovely gear and some good skills too.
  14. Change of website name, Maybe...

Interesting. I'm not a fan of the wildcamping site but do check regularly on here! Just goes to show. We call our self build "the van" or "the camper" and tend to think of motorhomes as the commercial jobbies, so I'd think something other than 'motorhome builder' would be fine. But there are so...
  15. VW Crafter MWB Build

Take it you know you can cut the CBE ones to length (I think the shortest probe may be fixed) so that you could get the precision where you want it. And of course, the gauge will only read perfectly accurately if you're parked dead level! Which reinforces your point about not getting too clever...
  16. What innovations did you design into your van?

I take my hat off to people who've got the tile edging to look good. I tried and gave up. In the end I used automotive rubber U-trim. I found a profile that matched the carpet thickness and used it on my sliding door. Superglued it to the door and tucked the carpet in. Here is a closeup of it...
  17. What innovations did you design into your van?

Yes, I'm not sure I'd want it in mine (if I had one). It's not really flimsy though. I was expecting it to be all wibbly wobbly but it's not.
  18. portable solar power station

Can't help I'm afraid but I'd like to know the answer as well! I looked at an Efoy fuel cell gismo a while back. So hard to justify, but a lot of fun to have!
  19. What innovations did you design into your van?

I'd got fed up with in-built sat nav and had taken to using Google maps, but I wanted to see it on a decent size screen, not just on my wife's little phone. So after much trial and error I found an iPad holder which is designed to fit in the CD slot of a CD/radio player, and which I found I...
  20. Calorifier saddle needed

Wouldn't a decent quality webbing ratchet strap work? People (like me) use them to hold down batteries and the ones I bought were rated at 4 tonnes, I think.
