  1. Tools for tired hands

I'm looking to buy/replace some tools. An issue is that my hands are getting arthritic and my grip isn't as strong as it used to be. Wondered if anyone had recommendations for crimping tools and rivnut tools that might be easy to use: longer handles, ratchets etc... Thanks
  2. Ducato windscreen

Thanks, maybe I should be braver about hanging onto the mirrors. A friend of mine had to replace one of his after an, ahem, incident, and the cost was scary!
  3. Ducato windscreen

Thanks for the suggestions. It occurs to me that if I had a rubber blade or chamois on the end of a pole that might help. It'd do nothing for ingrained dirt and insects etc, but our water is so hard (at the top of the permitted scale - we spend a fortune on water softener salt) that you get...
  4. Ducato windscreen

I'm giving the current van a serious clean, given I've time on my hands. How do other people clean the windscreen properly? I can wash it using a brush on the end of a pole, in the usual way, but I want to reach it properly to give it a deep clean. I just can't get close enough on any steps...
  5. Rejigging my PV

Your pine tree reminds me of a local issue we have round here. A broadband company is putting up masts around the village (which they are entitled to do under recent planning law changes, but that's another story). However one of them has been put under an oak tree so its top is lost in...
  6. Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

Just noticed that Jacksons Leisure say: "Expected release date is 31st Aug 2020" And no doubt that'll get corona-ed too.
  7. Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

Brilliant. Thanks. For once Mr Google let me down.
  8. Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

I can't seem to find a price for it anywhere, but I thought I'd seen one somewhere. Any ideas?
  9. Let the Fun Begin... Citroen Relay Conversion

I made the mistake of putting a decal on the back of mine when we were parked up on a CMC campsite. Several people walking past suggested it wasn’t level and one kindly enquired how I planned to get “all those bubbles” out.
  10. Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

I have this crazy idea to use an old phone as a built in control panel. You know they sometimes slow down as they age? Well, we have several of those in the drawer and I’m thinking they’ll be man enough to run Connect.
  11. Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

Not sure how new this is, but I only saw the announcement today. https://www.victronenergy.com/battery-monitors/smart-battery-shunt Does away with the need for a BMV? And so, I presume, can be a cheaper but full functionality solution?
  12. Violating a Princess!

    Crikey
  13. Renault Master tyres?

Can't suggest anything from experience I'm afraid, but I'd be interested to see how much they might help. After the last time I got stuck on damp grass I bought an extra door mat to match the one we already had to use as grip strips. Much cheaper than new tyres...!
  14. Upgrading tyres

I think, based on what I've read, that the 16" wheels are fitted to 'heavy' or 'maxi' versions. The wheel hubs are bigger and stronger to cope with the extra weight. On 15" rims the maximum tyre loading rating you can conveniently find is 109, which corresponds to 2,060kg on the rear axle...
  15. Upgrading tyres

Brilliant. Thanks, I will. I discovered recently that my local builders merchant has a big pile of roofing lath offcuts and broken bits which are less than half price: a 2m bit is no good for a roofer but handy for a van... I got about 10m in bits for about £2!
  16. Upgrading tyres

Same weight with different suspension. The rear axle is rated at 2,000kg and the standard tyres give you 2,060kg, so there’s not a lot of leeway. The air suspension is possibly aimed at people who have heavy loads day in, day out...bit like a camper! But I don’t want the complexity of the air...
  17. Upgrading tyres

Yes, but weirdly you have to have a different suspension option with it. I don’t think there’s any tech reason, I suspect it’s marketing, but wondered if anyone knew otherwise
  18. Upgrading tyres

yes, I’m very conscious about weight. Were there any major things you did differently when you thought about the weight? For example, I have two space/water heating solutions in mind and if I suspect one will be noticeably heavier than the other. And weights of batteries seem to vary hugely too.
  19. Upgrading tyres

The base van I want to buy (Relay/Boxer) comes with 215/70 R15 109 tyres. I think these might be marginal on load if my build ends up with us running on the weight limit, so I was looking at how to upgrade them. They offer an option to upgrade to 225/70R15 112 tyres, but on the price list you...
  20. Don't leave Sikaflex EBT+ open in the air !! SEAL NOZZLE AIRTIGHT

Is there only one Stixall product (apart from colour choice)? And does it work for both being a sealant and adhesive? For example, can you use it for windows and roof lights, non-setting, and as an internal adhesive where you might hope it never comes apart? I get bothered and stressed by the...
