  1. V5 Motor Caravan

Just had my rejection for 'external features' too. Obviously looks nothing like a camper....
  2. Heating Van over Winter

Funnily enough, I was just thinking about that on my dog walk. I drain down, so I'm hopefully not at risk of pipes splitting. I'm thinking of parking the other way around so that any sunshine there is will be on the windscreen, and hopefully solar gain will provide heat now and again. I also...
  3. Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

Which mifi/4g router did you install?
  4. Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

You might also be interested in this: https://shop.neos.co.uk/products/neos-smartcam A different approach to security, and serves a different purpose, but if you already have mifi in the van it's very cheap.
  5. Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

Much more cost effective than the ones I looked at a couple of years ago. They were £200+ I think from memory, and arguably not worth it.
  6. Victron Multi and 600ah battery bank

    That is some TV....awesome....
  7. Which Fuse Box would you prefer?

Side entry, option 1, definitely for me. I've been scrabbling on the floor with a single version of Option 2 and it was a pain.
  8. Distribution Board

I think the Multiplus manual sets out that you need ventilation clearance top and bottom. Can't find the figure instantly, but I think they say 100mm?
  9. Thermo property's

I think perhaps you need to ask yourself this question: if water/water vapour were to get through the top layer where would you want it to go? If you tape both layers it'll get stuck in the middle of your floor, if you don't then maybe it'll work to the bottom and find its way out. Just my theory!
  10. 2Kw inverter under £300

It’s good enough for Greg Virgoe!
  11. Tank sensor for Victron

Looking at it again, I've noticed it's only 150mm. 300mm isn't too bad, but it gets more pricey after that. I suppose a snag is that not being length adjustable you might be unlucky and not be able to get one that properly fits the tank you have. Barratt tanks, for example, for my vehicle are...
  12. Tank sensor for Victron

I may be talking nonsense here, so forgive me... I‘m probably going the Victron route for electrics and read that the monitoring stuff is able to do tank level reporting, but requires a specific sensor type - “European resistance” I think. I looked into this a while ago and they were...
  13. Two models of Victron

Apart from the worthy Wildebus, I've been keeping an eye on prices elsewhere and no-one seems consistently always the cheapest, but On Board Energy often seem to be there or thereabouts.
  14. Two models of Victron

OK, great, thanks. Hard to see a downside - although maybe one day old-style ones will get sold off cheap :giggle:
  15. Two models of Victron

Thanks for the info. Poring over the manuals suggests they've taken out the bit about being able to mount the unit on its side, like you could with the old one - but I should think it would be OK, with good ventilation round it.
  16. Two models of Victron

Afternoon Been looking through Victron stuff again and found two models of the inverter I've got my eye on: https://www.onboardenergydirect.co.uk/shop/victron-phoenix-multiplus-inverter-charger-12-1200-50-16-c.html#SID=40...
  17. Humble Road Van #2

Loved it. I particularly enjoyed the method of getting extra elbow room to read the paper while sitting on the loo! Now that is specifying things in detail.
  18. Tools for tired hands

Now I'm not one to give medical advice, but a few years ago I looked at the base research that underpinned the Gov't reduction in daily units and found several interesting things. Understandably the health people distilled the research down (joke) to one simple message, but the picture was...
  19. Tools for tired hands

    That's a good idea. I'll experiment a bit. Thanks!
  20. Tools for tired hands

    Oh, if only!
