  1. Yikes - new battery price

Thanks, @Millie Master . I'll navigate the Halfords website. It works on one of our 3 possible devices, but not the other 2 and I always forget which is which!
  2. Yikes - new battery price

Informative, thank you @Millie Master Final Q: one guy I phoned said they would need to code the new battery to the ECU, another said that was nonsense, just whack it in. Who's right???
  3. Yikes - new battery price

£309 for the Relay at Euro Car Parts. Three year warranty instead of the 4 or 5 for the OEM part. Pays your money, takes your choice I guess £250 at Alpha batteries for what looks like the same thing - but with 5 year warranty. £50 less, better warranty - go figure!
  4. Yikes - new battery price

Not sure I really know what a factor is?? Is that different from an independent spares place?
  5. Yikes - new battery price

Made me weak at the knees. This is the official Citroen part: https://www.arnoldclarkautoparts.com/products/genuine-peugeot-citroen-12v-battery-1638153480 I phoned my local dealer, an independent but well-reputed garage, and the bloke round the corner, and they all gave me more or less the...
  6. Yikes - new battery price

I posted a while ago about whether my Citroen Relay starter battery was shot. I've had more trouble starting, and having checked and tightened all connections, I am wondering about it again. So I thought I'd find out how much a new one costs. The answer is around £480- £500. It seems the...
  7. X250 Ducato / Relay / Boxer / Jumper sliding door open warning

You wouldn't believe they'd been making these vans for 30 years: mine (from new) has had continual leaks from the door seals on the sliding door. I'm on the 4th set now and hopefully these seem to have done it. I'm sorry you're having trouble. I'm afraid I can't help, can only sympathise!
  8. Fuse replacement.

I used to work with an old school radio engineer who used his fingers to test circuits. He knew the capacitance of each of his fingers, both wet and dry.
  9. Are remote gas solenoids worth it?

Sorry, had to laugh. I've done that too....
  10. What are peoples thoughts on this

I think other people's builds are probably hard to pick up and carry on with, so perhaps view it as a strip out and start again, re-using what's salvageable. Especially as people's opinions about what's safe electrically (no gas I see) vary widely.
  11. Are remote gas solenoids worth it?

Thanks for the replies, all. I think I'll save my £145....though I might investigate gas alarms again. I have a CO2 alarm, but not a gas one. Well, yes, I do. But in my case there's a long-ish run of pipe from the cylinder at the back to the manifold under the sink. So there's quite a lot of...
  12. Are remote gas solenoids worth it?

I have a bog ordinary orange gas cylinder in the garage and when I built the van I decided against having a remote solenoid. My habit is to turn the gas off at the cylinder when I'm driving and I feel comfortable that's safe. And I thought a remote solenoid was one more thing to go wrong...
  13. Battery only lasts 2 years and a bit?

Yes, I have that as well. I think I saw your posts about it, but I'd forgotten them, so I'll go back and have a read. Thanks. I have Victron monitoring all over everything and I can see that the Ablemail is maintaining a constant voltage, but it's at just under 12.2V, and I'd prefer it a bit...
  14. Battery only lasts 2 years and a bit?

Interesting. I found I could put 1/2 or maybe even 3/4 of a turn on the nut holding the -ve battery clamp on. I haven't been into the battery compartment since about 2 years ago when I disconnected the battery to undo the seatbelt pretensioner stuff, and I guess I'd have undone that nut, so I...
  15. Clever conversion

I've always assumed that T&G internal cladding would be very heavy, but wonder what the numbers actually are?
  16. Battery only lasts 2 years and a bit?

Only two things suggest themselves: one is that these vans are obviously designed to be used (thrashed) day in, day out, not left idle for weeks/months, and quite possibly the charging is designed on that basis. Secondly, mine has the stop/start stuff, and an 'intelligent' alternator. The idea...
  17. Battery only lasts 2 years and a bit?

Yes, I was thinking the same. Get out the socket set and give everything a good inspection and tightening. Thanks
  18. Battery only lasts 2 years and a bit?

I've seen talk of adding an additional strap, but how you do that given where the battery is (passenger footwell) I don't know.
  19. Battery only lasts 2 years and a bit?

It's a Relay. There is a noticeable drain with alarm etc, but the Ablemail ought to compensate for that, I would have thought. I tried it again today, the plan being to buy a new battery if it was reluctant to start - and it started first turn, no problem. No idea why that would be, but I'll...
