    Addition to Gaslo

Thank you. That's simpler than I thought! I'll look at fittings and our installation, which looks similar.

    Addition to Gaslo

How easy is it to add a Calor bottle to our Gaslo system? We have a Gaslo system but as that becomes scarse I wonder about adding something like a 6kg Calor bottle for emergency use. This could be exchanged at great expense (unless in Albufiera) at a petrol station etc. Can it be plumbed so...

    Mixing Solar panels

I hadn't forgotten this post, just other issues had got in the way. Anyway, on the other side of the world the question has been demonstrated and answered.

Victron Hub 1 What is it?

@wildebus Thanks for info, I have no devices with VE.Bus yet so I'll just ignore it.

Victron Hub 1 What is it?

Yesterday while preparing for the battery upgrade I turned all power off. After rebooting the RPi GX my finger somehow swiped the screen, I rarely look at these overview screens, and noticed "Hub 1". A quick squint at the net but no real answer. What is Hub 1 and apparently there's a 2 & 3!

    Victron MPPT 100/30 X 2

I use an RPi instead of a GX device, recently I've made a few changes/installs to my setup, changing to the "Large Image" which includes Node-Red and also swapping the 3 for a RPi 4. Through some of the changes settings have been lost. Last night I enabled DVCC About DVCC which by default...

    Victron MPPT 100/30 X 2

I have two Victron MPPT 100/30 Smart Solar chargers which are networked and work, today while unable to do anything (the specialist said rest) I sat in the van and looked at how the two solar setups performed. I noticed that MPPT_A uses the BMV for external current sense and MPPT_B doesn't. Can...

    Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

Do you have a link to the In-Dash 'infotainment' system you fitted and how would you rate it?

Which Fuse Box would you prefer?

I prefer fuse boxes with a negative bus. This may help when your customer want to add another device. No drilling holes or dodgy earth's for them to worry about as you've (@wildebus ) given them an earth already.

    Mixing Solar panels

Yes your values were very close. I do always like hard facts, @wildebus always gives graphs etc which I love as I've had to prove fact from instrumentation. I will try more things when it warms up and when the sun shines for more than 2 minutes. Regular silicone diode drops about 0.6 Vf, a...

    Mixing Solar panels

Today I did a quick test using a 120W Vechline solar panel and a DC power supply. The DC power supply was used to simulate a second solar panel. This panel should have a Max Power voltage of 18.6V. I connected the DC Power Supply (PSU) to the solar panel as if they were in parallel, +ve to...

    Mixing Solar panels

It would be far to easy to buy a third Victron MPPT (ouch) but I for one wouldn't have hard data on what load a shaded/different panel has on the system. In an all parallel array, if one panel becomes shaded what effect does it have on the rest. Does shading on the most positive cell group of a...

    Mixing Solar panels

I have two Victron 100/30 SmartSolars in the van, one only has the two 50 watt panels so loads of capacity left. Interesting to hear what others do and why. 👍

    Mixing Solar panels

The figures you quote sound good. Look on the black side and things can only get better, is my moto. Add a bit of shading to one panel and the terminal voltage of that pair will drop. Bypass diodes within the panels allow the now limited current to flow but we now have one pair of panels at...

Could be interesting for those worried about diesel heater noise.

The kits I've seen I thought came with stand pipes? For a few quid he'd fit your diesel heater for you I expect.

Yes yes, but, No!. What's Your 50w pv output ?? In summer. In amps please! As they are not fitted maybe a pic of the back description plate maybe. Tia https://uk.renogy.com/50-watt-12-volt-monocrystalline-solar-panel-new-edition/ I have two in series so voltage will be double, current the same.

I guess anything fitted 'wrong' could have a negative effect. Fitting something correctly could have a positive effect. You only have to look at Gadget John's YouTube channel, who many follow, to realise how much misinformation is on YouTube.

    Mixing Solar panels

I have two Renogy 50W monocrystalline solar panels in series on a Victron MPPT solar controller. On the trailer I have two Photonic Universe 150W xxxcrystalline solar panels in series which I put into the same solar controller when I take the trailer, for more solar power. The trailer panels...
