    Compost toilet review

A major improvement in personal and public health was the invention of the water closet. I struggle to see the passion for going backwards. I have used the toilet at the end of the garden. And remember the burying in the garden. I have even helped out at St. John’s Ambulance Cadets Camps where...

    Pop rivets?

Getting both surfaces clean and abrading them before a good even coat of pu mastic would be belt and braces. Along with the squat frogs. (pop ribbits).

Bit of an electrical quandary ....

So if I got this correct you’re trying to switch two switches with one device. Have you considered the switches might be polarised? If so and simple wire swapping doesn’t cure it, what about inserting diodes to isolate them from each other?

    Pop rivets?

There are many versions of pop rivets, some are designed for soft surfaces. If you can get to the back of the glass fibre a penny washer placed on the back of the rivet will make a strong connection. If the rivet is in a high corrosion area coat it in waxoyl first. If you want to prevent leaks...

    Inverter earthing

This reminds me of a horrible or funny story from school depending on your sensitivity. One child was chasing another with a piece of electrical wire, shouting “earth him, earth him”. The poor victim believed he was running for his life. Children can be so nice........

    Inverter earthing

I should have, as Murky was evolving I put an auto changeover switch in the consumer unit. My auto changeover relay is after the consumer unit, so I have floating 240 AC power. I just have to make sure that when Anita touches something live I don't hold her hand whilst standing outside in the...

    Inverter earthing

There is a discussion about this with Dave and the multiplus. If I remember correctly you have two choices. 1. leave it floating and you have two live wires relative to ground and each other. If you have a fault to the appliances case, you still shouldn't have a shock to ground. 2. Connect up...

AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

This is the ideal reaction of air and propane. A lot of water is produced. Even burning Hydrogen gives Heat + Water. So Dave's mania for being all electric has it's plus sides if you can make enough electrickery.

AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

We have a propane range style cooker at work and are still on the same 47kg cylinder for the last 8 years. When I lived in Wiltshire (no gas in village) a 47kg would last around 2 1/2 years at home. Murky was first fitted with a gas/mains caver water heater. It did seem to get through more...

    Violating a Princess!

No Trev, sanded it back to the gel coat. Then a mix of white polyester top coat with flexible additive and a little resin to thin it.

    Violating a Princess!

Onward ever onwards, during the week I put the back up on ramps and got under it with the hose pipe and traffic film remover. I never managed to get it as clean as I wanted, but hopefully clean enough to paint before insulating it. While frolicking on my back with the hose pipe I managed to find...

    Mot

Have you tried to find a service centre for your Tacho rather than the truck? Being electronic it should be easy to calibrate. It's not like having to change the tacho gearbox like it used to be on older trucks.

    Lamp conversion to LED

I guess they can’t all be bad, but the short life of some of these after market light fittings drives me into a frenzy wanting to attack them and the seller with a hammer. I guess if the mood grabbed me I could install a dimmer circuit, but I do have the choice of the high luminance strips or...

    Lamp conversion to LED

Thanks for the offer, but what I have will do. The bases are quite slim fitting so I can have insulation behind them. The diffusers stick out a little more than I like, but if they become a problem I’ll mould some slim ones.

I don't know if they do small stuff, but Millard Motor Homes used to put a box on a supplied chassis.

    Lamp conversion to LED

You can have whatever luminance you like. Generally speaking, less light less current.
