    Victron Orion starting too quickly?

Regular alternator, see first image. Orion TR Smart non-isolated, it has 3 terminals, +ve IN, GND, +ve OUT. https://www.onboardenergydirect.co.uk/shop/Victron-30A-12VDC---12VDC-Smart-Battery-Charger-non-isolated.html#SID=13 I just thought that the images from my Orion would show you how my van...

    Victron Orion starting too quickly?

This is not a suggestion or recommendation because I don't want abuse from anyone and from past experience I should just keep my mouth shut. But here goes, my non-isolated Orion is set like this

    Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

My Phoenix Inverter has an internal link which can be changed to tie the Earth to Neutral or not. From previous experience here, I'm afraid to say much...

    VRM updates

I had seen mention of Ruuvi and did have a quick look at the product, I think €40. If you buy one and integrate it into your system I'll be very interested to hear how you get on.

I never got to see it, Covid testing for France took up some of my day.

Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

@wildebus I guess you also struggle to read the English language as I do. I wrote "try connecting the H pin to chassis", I also asked PeteS to let me know the results. What were the results? I don't think PeteS needs you to speak for him, he seems quietly very knowledgeable and very modest to...

Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

    @wildebus I'm guessing you're just a "fitter" not a "technician".

Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

I found the data sheet quite poor in its explanation of the use of the Remote connection. If it was me I would try connecting the H pin to chassis to turn it off, the data sheet does say it requires a +ve level >3V, so less than 3 may turn it off. Never a fan of floating pins. No warranty...

    VRM updates

I am Simple :(, or they said I was at school :). If I was clever I wouldn't start 90% of the things I do. I guess what I was trying to say in my previous post was, if it doesn't work, don't despair, don't delete it, just Disable it and have a go another day.

    VRM updates

For those interested in trying Node-Red, the flows are in tabs, individual tabs can be enabled or disabled by double clicking the tab (on my Chromebook) in question and selecting the radio button in the bottom left hand corner. The tab below "Battery_Temp" is Disabled. The same can be done with...

    VRM updates

That's one way. 👍 I have had all the ADC, Temp and Relays enabled on the RPi in the past. It all got s bit tight for space in my set up so removed it. For a wire-free (almost) temperature monitoring I used a WeMos D1 mini with two temp sensors. The D1 communicated with Node-Red over mqtt WiFi...

    VRM updates

I think the limitation is the registers that Victron allow us the write to in their devices.

    Victron just arrived

My Orion TR-Smart charges the Lithium LB's from the FLA starter battery. I have a switch across the green Remote connector but have never had to use it to stop the Orion from charging. I raised the Engine shutdown detection and Input voltage lock-out values as I found the Orion stayed on for a...

    Victron just arrived

I use an AMT12-2 which worked fine when the LB was AGM but with Lithium LB's the voltage change is so small between off-charge and on-charge it can't detect it to my satisfaction. The AMT has about 100mV hysteresis and the Lithium's only change by more than this when they reach the hump which is...

    Victron just arrived

I put my Orion on the outside of the the passenger seat box, it gets HOT and needs lots of cooling, it can current limit to protect itself. Perhaps a cooling fan, heaven forbid!

    VRM updates

The fact you can't change many functions, like LOAD as you mention, via mqtt is a little annoying. Not being able to grab temperature from the Smart Battery Sense is another annoyance.

    VRM updates

No. I use an RPi, you need to install the "Large Image" on your RPi to get Node-Red . Google Victron GX large image.

    VRM updates

I've not seen anyone else mention this. Victron's VRM now has the Node-Red dashboard in the menu. Allowing remote control of many items connected to your GX device. If you should try Node-Red and get to the point where it asks for certificates, I selected Deny. Victron may cover this on...
