Do you carry a scooter or motorbike in your garage?

I did ask if they were required to see your V5 or if they looked it up. The response was that they have a list of minimum requirements, and if this list is met it will be tested "as presented" Hence our Plaxton Cheetah Coach has a Class 4 Motorhome MOT certificate. Apparently all Motorhomes...

Mechanic Labour Charges, also posted on other forums

This has always annoyed me, the capital expenditure of a garage is minimal compared to an engine remanufacturer. The skill level is also much lower. If you tried to charge those rates for engine remanufacture you'd soon be out of business. We operate a precision engineering facility with very...

Do you carry a scooter or motorbike in your garage?

The down side is trying to find someone with big enough facilities for 8mtrs plus vehicles.

Do you carry a scooter or motorbike in your garage?

I've just encountered a prickly exchange with a mot tester saying that he would refuse to test a class 4 motorhome if it had a large storage area within it. Stating that he would consider it HGV if over 3.5 tonnes. Funnily enough the next day I was lucky to have a conversation with 2 DVSA HGV...

    Violating a Princess!

I must admit this build feels more like demolition at the moment. There is a lot to be said for converting a donor vehicle and ignoring as much as possible. I have to admit I was one of those people. As both my previous conversions were in desperation with limited funds and resources, I later...

    Violating a Princess!

No beautifying this time, I just wanted to get the bag changed to prove that as my major source of air loss. Sod working in this heat as well! Was a bit worrying as the Mercedes info I read on changing it kept on about the risk of being crushed and death! So I made to aluminium blocks to hold...

    Violating a Princess!

This weekends sufferings in the heat. All welding completed in the wheel arch area and the removed structure replaced. Everything sealed to prevent further ingress of water from that area. The down side is that it's also one less drain for the other leaks! Brake pipe replaced, new brake disc...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

Well done Dave, if anyone else has anything to add it would be good. Speed Limits, If checked manually I would expect it's down to the discretion of who's checking. An automated system is more interesting. I expect it checks against taxation class and nothing more as it would be too...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

Sorry I still don't get this fixation with "section 4 D.5 Body type" This does not define the use of the vehicle. It's what it simply looks like. Along with D.4

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

So taking the other side, being driven into work some 20 miles each way mainly on motorways. To amuse myself I play "spot the motorhome". A conclusion from this I have made is that many commercial body builders use the same plastic mouldings for horse boxes, delivery vans and Motor homes. This...

    Calorifier

We've been using one in "Murky" for about 14 years now. Replacing the electric element for a 500w one was a very useful upgrade. Allowing it to be heated from a small generator, or as Dave pointed out using surplus solar electric energy to heat it. We also have a 12kw eberspacher that can...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

It does make sense even if it does upset some people. My personal quest is to try and make sure my S/D Bus/Coach does not end up as a Class N2 goods vehicle. It was never designed to carry "Goods" It was a M3 passenger vehicle, and I wish it to remain so. That will be an interesting fight.

    Cheap vs expensive

I final plucked up enough courage to watch the video. It's been tough enough learning to understand Yorkshire! What a shame he didn't do low light or rain tests with the panels, as the expensive one appeared to be a different technology. I expect the results would have been very different. Mark

AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

Multiplus features? Am I reading this correctly Dave? 2.3 Self consumption – solar energy storage systems When the Multi is used in a configuration in which it will feed back energy to the grid it is required to enable grid code compliance by selecting the grid code country setting with the...

    TABLE TOP FRIDGE

I suspect an oversize cheep inverter will happily start and run your fridge. But if Sod’s law got involved and both fridges tried to start at the same time it might be another story.

    Violating a Princess!

That seems very odd Geoff, lots of motor homes have plastic windows. A later version of the plaxton cheetah has double glazing so that could be worth looking into.

AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

Ok then Dave, thinking aloud about a Multiplus 12/800/35 35amp battery charger, I guess it's AC demand would be around 0.5kW? So my noisy silent inverter generators 900Watt output should be enough? 700Watts of inverter output you mention was unhappy starting your fridge. Does the overload...
