    Sale of self built

Interesting comments re quirky campers. We went to camp quirky this year, an enormous event and certainly lived up to its name. Although I wasn’t over enamoured with how the place was run (just looked like a money making exercise to me), we had a good time and met some interesting folk. The...

What are peoples thoughts on this

Hmmmm..... take care not to put any value on the interior. What’s been done doesn’t brilliant, as others has said, you’ll want to rip it out anyway. No point not planning your own van, you will have negotiable and non negotiables. For me a fitted king size bed, solar and a compressor fridge were...

    LHD Sprinter

I guess it’s down to price. If the condition is reflected in the mileage, could be a good buy. As has been mentioned, rust can be an issue. Again the low miles, could mean a tidy body? If it’s ex company and they’ve owned it for years, it’ll be written down to buggerall on the books. I’d be...

Rear door handle ??? Is the rear door opener from inside worth moving above bed ???

Absolutely yes! I made a cutout that makes the original interior handle easily reachable in my sprinter, so wasn’t a ball ache with my build.

    Camp Quirky...

I’ve spoken to a couple of people that have attended Camp Quirky in the past and enjoyed the event. So, I splashed out and bought tickets for this years offering. Anyone else going?

Just to think I had seen it all !!!

Taste is a very personal thing, I’m sure many out there wouldn’t like what I’ve done with my van.... That said, I’m not sure that steel would be my choice of interior lining. I’m thinking condensation might be an issue, then there’s the living with a very hard surface. Also I suppose could get...

    Factory Sub flooring

The factory flooring that came out of my sprinter was really heavy dense stuff. I used the panels as a pattern for the new floor, some of the old floor was used for making a strong bulkheads to contain the batteries and the the water tank.

    Camper van water system

Was never a fan of over complicated..... My van’s water system looks stone age in comparison!

    Mayby avoid this controller

I guess when you buy cheapo electronics you take a chance. That said, I bought the cheapest solar controller I could find on fleabay when I built my van and so far so good. I don’t begin to pretend I understand how it all works, though I would have thought doing the experiment with a battery...

    The Red Beast

Just back from the first road trip of any significance. Did around fifteen hundred miles, taking in Edinburgh, north Lancashire, Newbury, Thames valley, Ely, North Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. I fitted an outrageously expensive Dometic compressor fridge during the build and this was...

    Large campervan

I’ve done a cheapo conversion on a Sprinter XLWB. My reasons: Wanted a big fixed bed. At 6’4” I can stand up in it! The base van was relatively cheap (the overriding factor). It’s rear wheel drive. I moved up from years of owning various VW campers. Aching bones pushed me towards a big PVC and...
