    Aren't the 2 things related?
  2. Lamp conversion to LED

I'd recommend 3528 led's, if you go for 5050's you'll burn your eyes out.
  3. AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

Has anyone figured out where the evaporator coils are in this inventor fridge? I think they're in the sides as that's the area that seems to get hot when faced with 30c in the van. I've rigged up a fan to cool the compressor as that just runs constantly, but can't help thinking one of those...
  4. AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

High end Samsung fridges have variable speed compressors. Hopefully when that technology filters down we'll be able to use small inverters as the inrush current will be comparatively small too.
  5. Inverter and DC chargers

Should work fine with lifepo4, just set the absorb to 14.4v. The only thing to check as you can't configure it is the time spent in absorb, you want it to be as short as possible, so watch when it gets to 14.4 and note how long it stays there, half hour is fine, half a day is not.
  6. AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

The one I posted on ebay can do 30 amps to 2 separate batteries each, or 60 amps to 1 battery.
  7. AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

Best bet buy one of these out of an ambulance, they cost over £700 new and contain 2 x 30A chargers which I assume you can hook up to one single battery. I'm using the same one in my van, you won't get a better charger for the money. Make sure it's a DUO 1230/30 like this one is listed as...
  8. AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

Very true, pot luck sometimes where duties are concerned.
  9. AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

Or instead of paying £3600 for 400ah of relions you could pay around £1000 for 560ah of prismatic cells, add a £50 bms and go spend your saved £2600 on a holiday. £2.23 per usable 80% ah changes things...
  10. Overcomplicating things

Finished my wiring today, still need to tidy things up a little and screw stuff down but everything is tested as working. The wiring on my electrics is a little peculiar because it's an ambulance and it was easier to work around what I already had, and more cost effective. The ambulance came...
  11. IVECO LWB - Ex Military Ambulance - low mileage

If you'd been to an auction you'd know the wheels would have to have fallen off for you to be allowed out of contract.
  12. Has Anyone Built a Lithium Storage Battery ?

Yes true there are LiFePo4 18650's but generally when discussing that size it's assumed you're talking about LiCoO2, LiMn2O4, LiNiMnCoO2 and other derivatives less suited for leisure batteries.
  13. Has Anyone Built a Lithium Storage Battery ?

You're going at it the wrong way. 18650 cells are not the correct chemistry for leisure batteries. What you want to look at is Lithium Ion Phosphate, or LiFePo4, and you can buy these in a large size called prismatic cells. Start here:
  14. IVECO LWB - Ex Military Ambulance - low mileage

They always are lol! Wouldn't be for me, converting an amublance is hard enough and that's an empty box. I reckon with 10k in your back pocket you'd make an awesome van for a final price of just over 20k. The key to these things is working with what you have rather than replacing everything imho.
  15. IVECO LWB - Ex Military Ambulance - low mileage

I'd be tempted to keep most of them. Imagine being able to open them all up in the summer, would be amazing, especially with awnings both sides. The only issue is windows, if there was some way to install flexible things that would be perfect. Did you see all the electronics inside? It had a...
  16. IVECO LWB - Ex Military Ambulance - low mileage

What about this bad boy. £11k final price apparently. https://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/witham/catalogue-id-witham10100/lot-15520099-6ecd-4e96-aff4-ab4500cf8868
  17. Solar install

It would show you how strong the sealant you used to seal the edges is? It may not be scientific but that glue held 500kg of weight and they didn't use a lot of it, end of. The scientific parts are the datasheets, which are where laboratory lab tests reveal the adhesive properties. How about 3M...
  18. Solar install

This is the Soudal Fixall glue you get from screwfix. Look at how strong it is.
  19. Solar install

I removed one of photonic universe sticky panels from the roof of my car. It required a crowbar and about an hour of work. The roof of the car witheld most of the glue where it still remains to this day as it's impossible to remove. Not in a million years was that panel coming off.
  20. Solar install

I think the problem is in peoples minds glue just doesn't seem like a strong substance, but in reality it's just as strong as mechanical connections, if not stronger since a much greater surface area is bonded. It just requires metal to metal bonds with zero impurities in between to be safe...
