    Charging options

Was going to post this in one of my other threads but think it its own thread. Winter is getting closer so time to sort what I am going to do with mains charging. My generator is a Hyundai 1Kw rated at 900W continuous. While a bigger genny would give me more options I can handle this one and...

    Victron 3 output mains chargers

Can someone explain what amps would be delivered on each output on maximum output, is it 20amps divided by number of outputs connected or 20amp on each connected output? Victron Blue Smart IP22 Battery Charger 12V - 20A 3 Output...

    Solar water heater advice wanted

If I ever wire the 1Kw immersion element in it has set points up to 85C, the coolant element will heat to whatever the engine coolant temp gets to. There is a TMV on the outlet of the calorifier 👍

    Lamp conversion to LED

Got a couple similar Trev but either 72 or 74 leds, very bright. One on each sofa for if Caz is doing craft stuff or we need bright light. Think mine were around a tenner each

    Mot

I know a Speedo had to be fitted but I don’t recall one ever being tested to work. It had to have mph on it but thus could even be painted on the glass

    Mot

Which is very lucky as when I took mine to the usual place last month it wouldn’t lift my van. Was worried for a while til I thought what had been removed since last mot lol

    Lamp conversion to LED

I have a twin fluorescent over the bed that I was going to convert, when I checked power though there was little to be gained by changing to led so I left it. Rarely used anyway and if I do want it on it’s bright. Going to leave it until it dies

Fiat Ducato Chassis Cab Conversion to coachbuilt motorhome

I think you can buy the boxes but ones I am thinking of are more expedition vehicles. Seen a few builds where they started with just a chassis on lorry’s and they look real professional but not a motorhome. someone here will probably be able to answer you 👍

Alternative to bubble rap silver, closed cell 2m x 50cm or this

I have 140litre tank under the bed going across the chassis but it’s all under the bed at the head end. Next to that is the toilet/bathroom with the shower behind the bed making an L shape bathroom. Mines coachbuilt though so you couldn’t do that in a conversion with a double bed. Like that van...

    Fitting immersion heater

Yes I have a Eberspacher heat exchanger close to the calorifier that the engine coolant runs through before (I think) going in the tank. Don’t think it needed to be close to the tank just convenient position under the bed where coolant pipes are

    Fitting immersion heater

So am I or at least I think I am. Both tanks were fitted next to the calorifier at the same time along with the heat exchanger and the Eberspacher D4. Hot water is always smooth running but get sputtering on cold once tank gets to around 3/4 empty which makes me think its all on hot side.

    Fitting immersion heater

My system has both an accumulator and an expansion tank built in, previous owner spent a lot of cash to have it all fitted out (y)

    Fitting immersion heater

Therein lies another story, I have an Eberspacher D5W under passenger headlamp that is wired to heat the engine up more quickly (not preheating). I keep looking at that for heating my water as it is all connected to the engine coolant anyway but not got the knowledge or confidence to break into...

    Fitting immersion heater

I am fairly sure its the 22litre when I checked it before. What is confusing me (and always does with conversions) is its a 1Kw element, if I divide 1000W by 12V it gives me 83amps. I was working on an hour if it ran constantly would use 83amps per hour. In practice I was expecting 30 to 40...

I think SureJust sell elements Dave. I was thinking around half an hour but I am plucking figures out the air. Do yo think it is worth continuing with this idea Dave?

    2Kw inverter under £300

Looking at the calculator posted on the Immersion heater thread I am not sure if this is a good idea or not lol

    Fitting immersion heater

It gets me confused working from one voltage to another. I dont like hot showers or baths prefer warm but not sure what that equates to temperature wise. I know we have a member on WC who uses a 12v 300W immersion element with his solar and it produces far more than he needs. I assume a 1Kw...

    Fitting immersion heater

This doesn’t say double pole but with combined fuse it would have been ideal. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/BG-Electrical-Switched-Connection-Indicator/dp/B004TRRQC0/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=double+pole+isolating+switch&qid=1595335448&sr=8-11

    Fitting immersion heater

I have 2 x 100ah Lifepo4 battery bank. No idea how long I would need to run inverter for a 1Kw element to heat it up yet. In summer I don’t see a problem as I have surplus from solar, in winter I would need to run genny. I will be up rating my charger before winter so should be running less than...
