OMG - NOT ANOTHER Solar panel question !! ??

I used to have a small panel, a lot smaller than that one 10W i think, that I used to leave on my sidecar roof to keep the bike battery topped up. It worked okay until one very windy day when I forgot to take it in. Never did find the panel lol

    Budget Generators ??

I went for the Hyundai HY1000si inverter generator. As the name suggests its 1Kw but they do a 2Kw as well. I needed something small and light as I cant really carry anything and I manage okay with this. I only use it to charge my batterys via the ehu input, I dont run any 230v items from it...

OMG - NOT ANOTHER Solar panel question !! ??

While I have nothing against generators and use one every couple of days this time of year you may still be able to meet your needs with solar. I have seen a lot of fulltime folks in vans with just a loose solar panel and leads going to controller/battery bank. It will all depend if you are okay...

OMG - NOT ANOTHER Solar panel question !! ??

I would advise you contact Sika yourself as they may now advise differently or may have a different product, if you want to just glue like I have. There are probably other manufacturers as well, not sure what 3M have, years ago we used to stick bodywork on with Tigerseal as well but cant...

OMG - NOT ANOTHER Solar panel question !! ??

Before I fitted my panels I contacted Sika Tech Support to discuss what I needed. I told them I wanted to stick the ABS mountings to the roof with adhesive alone then bolt the panels to the mountings. They advised I used Sikaflex 252i Architectural and clean and abrade the paint first. Thats all...

    Sprinter switch removal

Well, after some fun and games today I now know why the left hand switch was mounted upside down. When you switch off it turns the Airtronic in the back on, had me thinking I was cracking up, been turning it off at the 801 controller for a few hours only for it to come back on. After I put the...

Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

I sit on the sofa opposite the head unit but rather than get up and press a button for the backlight I use the app lol horses for courses and it’s good to have more choices 👍

Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

Just make sure you can download the Victron Connect app on whatever phone it is. Once they are no longer supported you can struggle with Apple devices on some things, not sure about Android. Just an idea, what do you use for sat Nav? If it’s Android based you may have the option to run the app...

Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

I don’t tend to use the physical monitor much myself, nearly always use phone or tablet. I think if I were to be buying now I would probably be happy with just the smart shunt. You do still have the head unit though if Bluetooth failed I suppose

    Sprinter switch removal

On the Sprinter forums they said about fitting an additional switch and a relay to do what you mention in a three way. To be honest though they lost me as it ended up with 5 relays but i already have a lot of what they were doing fitted as standard

    Sprinter switch removal

Next question David :) This is the circuit diagram for the switch that has been used, I need to double check which pins have been used but as only two wires am I right in saying its got to be pins 3 and 7, (the switch does turn on the heater when operated)? If I am replacing the d+ with a...

    Sprinter switch removal

Brilliant David, pushed thin screwdriver blade of my Leatherman in the bottom of the switch and levered slightly and switch came out enough for me to lever gently on sides and full release :) While I was at it I put the left hand switch right way up as I know it will aggravate your OCD if I...

Mains Smart Charger for leisure batteries

Hi Gav and welcome. I think it may help folks suggest things if you add what type of battery technology you have, (Gel, AGM etc.)

Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

I didnt mean any incompatibility by using the manufacturers figures, more use the chart to see exactly what a certain voltage indicates. In the screen shot you posted earlier it showed 12.2V as 50% whereas they say the PowerFrame is only 25%SOC at 12.2V with 50% being 12.5V. They will take...

    Sprinter switch removal

Yes you are correct David, I am guessing whoever fitted them did it to remind you to turn one off when the other is on but no idea really. The left hand switch it an additional to turn on the Eber D4 in the back of the van and the right hand turns on the Eber water heater to warm the engine more...

Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

You really need the manufacturers data sheet for you particular battery if you are using voltage for battery condition. I suspect that’s one reason I did my PowerFrame battery’s in so quickly. 12.2v on those is a lot less than 50% left. Most folks are low users and on EHU so it doesn’t matter...
