    Bit of encouragement needed

i've built a lot of vans . i've pretty much packed it in the last 2 years as my body is saying no. but, did a few in my sixties and find that the amount of time you spend stepping in and out of the van, and time spent on your knees is the killer. so i recommend having a second set of tools in...

    Violating a Princess!

on buses i've done i've found the windows too big generally , so i'd normally leave the ones nearest the front, then sheet over the rest. making a batten frame is easy , and you can put smaller windows where you choose to have them. and glass is pretty heavy too. much better ,i think , to have...

    Cooking on gas

yes , fair bit of unnecessary weight there, including the floor and walls. 6mm ply is plenty strong enough really, though i can see how someone might consider chipboard units have you tried reverse-cut jigsaw blades , they make following a line a doddle .

    Per hour?

i'm not saying that these fridges use excessive gas, but i can't see a good reason to waste gas having a fridge on 24/7. for that matter i think water heaters are a waste of money too , except the instantaneous type with no pilot jet. not really impressed with blown air gas heaters either. maybe...

    Per hour?

that's nearly half a pound of gas daily in old money. when living in a van , using the fridge doubled the cost of gas , so we stopped using it

    Build or Buy ?

6 grand is plenty for a self build ,assuming you either do what Chris says and buy a caravan, the best bet , or keep looking on gumtree or ebay to get what you need secondhand. i too consider using caravan furniture a no-no, but all the bits and pieces will save thousands. my sprinter cost me...
