    Violating a Princess!

Sample Ram turned up today so I just had to abandon work to go and play. As usual nothing is easy! I will have to strip the ram and remove the oil fittings. Make some new smaller right angled ones and weld them on. I've modelled the box section it has to fit and the new ram profile. The box...

AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

The BMV I have on the starter battery was about the paranoia of the starter batteries having a very low capacity. Even the new ones show low voltage at rest. I check the voltage daily and end up charging about every four days. They never take much. Just as well as I use the leisure side to...

AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

Two thoughts Dave. If you have a clamp current meter you could use it nearer your load? I do wonder with graphs sampling times. Does it average the data or show as sampled peaks and troughs? As for your alternator the built in fans are normally very good. Do you have a BMV on your starter...

AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

I did some reading last night and came across some boaty lithium testing and I think it's going to be four T105's for Betty.

You may be able to fit a new regulator pack. I carry one as a spare. An interesting read Dave. Thanks for all the hard work. Though if you were to look at real world numbers with the assistance of your solar help your batteries will have much less of a hammering. I’m still torn over what to...

Another thing you may notice if you try to take more than the alternator wants to give you, is the squeals of objection from the drive belt.

    Violating a Princess!

Another little job fixed on Betty is the drivers air seat. It was like a pogo stick and was a pain trying to get any kind of pedal control. The plan was to replace it, but they are not cheap. I put a new damper in the seat and replaced some air fittings. Also managed to get the height adjustment...

I've had 3 fridges now in Murky and never unplugged one due to problems. Each sold on working. Don't ask :(

    Tools for tired hands

What I do is a bit more sedate. Sadly I’m only good for pet food. Even my blood is no good.

This is why I'm thinking the 1200 multipus should be a safe bet for the Betty build.

Are going to simulate opening the door too ;) And if so for how long and many times? Just teasing as it looks like your testing is more involved than you hoped. I'm still frustrated that my first attempt at running a domestic fridge worked so well. Under counter domestic fridge from Makro...

When it comes to van you converted, what was your worst decision?

Seat belt law is interesting to say the least. I asked Plaxton how the Beever’s get away without having seat belts. Turns out they have an exemption as they won’t go over 60mph. One thing I did come across that it’s recommended not to travel in the back of a motor home.

Split Chargers - B2B & Relays: Which one - or Both?

Have any of you considered the energy used (fuel burnt) in using your engine to charge batteries? I've been thinking along the lines of, if you could drive your alternator you could use surplus solar to help the engine? Or at the very least keep your engine start batter fully charged so the...

    Silicone/Sealants

We try to avoid buying too much silicone or mastic stock as it’s very annoying to open a new tube and find it’s stiff or solid.
