Yes the down side is the maintenance along with the weight, but they are so much more tolerant than any other battery I have used. What kind of load would you say is "normal use" My inverter is only a Victron 800 so that is the heaviest load I have. Apart from my Hereford Flu trip over New...

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Though still needing to drop the tank to find it, many van and truck tanks have an extra pick up tube.

If I were you I’d have purchased one without shadows on it. ;)

Did you read the bit about the resonate frequency of the cable tie at a particular length and thickness. Also they can be fine tuned with tension!.

The point of this post was to make better use of your infrastructure. Better efficiency could mean less weight. At some point it would be nice to do a test with and without fans and I would hope to make fans of you all ;)

    Violating a Princess!

Temporary addition to the Battery box a BMV712 at the weekend. By the time I tidied the wiring and made the new cable that was most of a day gone. What it quickly proved that one battery was not fit for purpose and the other was being mistreated. So today another Varta blue motive 140Ah...

    Earthing Questions

In another life I found that military vehicles with generators running onboard could get to 1000’s of volts above ground. Not a problem until you connected two of them together. I solved the problem by making sure each vehicle was grounded before making a connection to the other. Sorry I can’t...

I understand what you are saying, and from my experience my domestic fridge performed perfectly. Lots of people were very upset that weekend with spoilt food. I was aware that the fridge was on a lot and I’d have loved to have parked in the shade. Yes I could have increased the solar and...

A fridge works by removing heat from where you store your perishable food. The heat removed is dissipated with a radiator. The better you can get the heat away from the radiator the more efficient the fridge will be. By using fans to move air over the radiator more heat is removed. The energy to...

Just looking at this little beasty, could it provide a "high" signal to drive http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/2700122.pdf and not use anything other than a power supply?

I wouldn't know where to start with a turbine exhaust. A piston engine has defined wave lengths and with a little maths you can get somewhere handy. I wonder if an online turbine silencer calculator exists?

    Violating a Princess!

Thanks Nabsim, I often sit and think "what have I taken on", but then I've sort of done it all before. Difference this is being done in one go, not over many years. We have a small machine shop, big hobby size really. We don't like big batch work or anything we'd have to work on for more than...

Split Chargers - B2B & Relays: Which one - or Both?

I'm being bullied into going bigger than I'd like as I haven't found a 500w element for my calorifier yet :( I was hoping that a 800 would do the job.

It may be an alternative if the TA17-04 isn't sensitive enough. I just want a reliable switch. I have another being sent to me that is supposed to be self powering!

Split Chargers - B2B & Relays: Which one - or Both?

This is the way I swap between mains and leisure inverter, except I found a relay with good isolation. If it detects external mains it switches to that. I also have some neon wally lights to show where the mains is coming from. The relay is a bit sensitive as it can get upset when the...
