I think the Venus OS is quite happy with most GPS USB units. I had one on the Pi and I am using the same one on the Venus GXAre you monitoring all that of the VRM on Victron Portal then ?
What GPS did you use ?
Thanks

They can be rather pricey, can't they! (I do have quite a few tools from RS Components that I have had for nearly 35 years though (but paid for by employer at the time ))Never buy crimping tools from Radio Spares !!!

Might try that and would be a Fiver (£5) to make the cable though I might have some bits kicking around to DIY it myself, looks like +5V is left out in the comms which is just data from the Victron device to Pi and vice-versa
Cheers as always, coffee is on me when we eventually meet @wildebus !!
I never got it to work on a Raspberry Pi running Venus OS and pretty sure I swapped TX/RX whilst tryingAlthough the connections in the picture are correct the guy has made a mistake labelling the JST plug side, the TxD and RxD are the wrong way round, which is only a problem if like me your JST plug has different colours to the one in the picture

I have used one of those in the past for Arduino programmingAnd this one here intrigues me with the note about it being 5V/3.3V selectable and also I can picture that being encapsulated into a Victron Dongle sized lump : https://amzn.to/2Lqchfe
