Victron CGX Raspberry Pi & VRM ?

Are you monitoring all that of the VRM on Victron Portal then ?
What GPS did you use ?
Thanks
I think the Venus OS is quite happy with most GPS USB units. I had one on the Pi and I am using the same one on the Venus GX :)

I have seen that before and I gave it a go. Couldn't get it to work, but didn't actually try very long admittedly.

I now have a JST toolkit and crimper (to make standard VE.Direct cables) so might give it another go :)

JST toolkit and crimper !! Really ?? @wildebus

Maybe

And see this Video

Might try that and would be a Fiver (£5) to make the cable though I might have some bits kicking around to DIY it myself, looks like +5V is left out in the comms which is just data from the Victron device to Pi and vice-versa

Cheers as always, coffee is on me when we eventually meet @wildebus !!

Although the connections in the picture are correct the guy has made a mistake labelling the JST plug side, the TxD and RxD are the wrong way round, which is only a problem if like me your JST plug has different colours to the one in the picture ;)

Del

I never got it to work on a Raspberry Pi running Venus OS and pretty sure I swapped TX/RX whilst trying
Have you managed to get these homemade cables to work then Del ?

Now there is proof that home-brew cables are possible (I have not previously found any "I made this and it worked" reports until Del's posting), decided to try again and started looking for cables.

This sounds like it might be suitable: https://amzn.to/35SBM2m
"2 Pack Debug Cable for Raspberry Pi USB Programming USB to TTL Serial Cable, Windows XP/VISTA/ 7/8/ 8.1 Supported"

And this one here intrigues me with the note about it being 5V/3.3V selectable and also I can picture that being encapsulated into a Victron Dongle sized lump ;) : https://amzn.to/2Lqchfe

Don't know if either will work, but ordered both to have a play with :D

I have used one of those in the past for Arduino programming

When I gave the whole thing a try I just purchased a standard USB cable and some UART

Plus

Like I said, I never got it to work so Del (@alwaysared ) is obviously a better man than me !!
