As mentioned, strip all the interior panels out first. Deal with the rot before spending any money on it. Btw, it’s not a Vario. Oh, don’t forget to remove the windscreen. It will be rotten where the glass fibre joins the steel.
Remember some will take you seriously. When cooking with gas in a Motorhome it is very wise to open a window near the cooker. Wise to do it at home too. Carbon monoxide is a killer.
I would guess that it's wired to only run on 12 volts when the engine is running, and that it's connected to the engine start battery. If this is so I'd be looking at replacing the regulator pack on the alternator.
I'm impressed that you've done that well. It doesn't sick where you put it, but sticks to everything else! It doesn't expand or expands so much you can't control it. I have wondered if one of the professional guns would help. Then you have the nightmare of cleaning the gun. I think if I...
I'm sure that when the 1977 Merc 608 was converted around 1980 that had a RCD fitted. No leisure batteries or even an inverter. I'm not even sure what it was used for? It wasn't mine at the time.
It is interesting to see what was considered acceptable such a short time ago.
Thanks Dave, for now I've just put a couple 6 amp ones in. First test was a vacuum cleaner followed by some power tools cutting panels for the shower room. I managed to take the batteries down to 98.5% So it looks like it was a good choice with the batteries.
Time to admit a mistake. The reason for my tripping twin MCB was due to the fact it was rated at 1 amp! I don't know what is worse, not noticing it's rating or buying it it the first place. :(
Fully charged now and floating at 27 volts. It will be interesting to see how they power the fridge and more so the calorifier. Lots more work to do before I’m at that stage.
I was hoping that David. I don’t know if the Multiplus or the mppt’s are in control of the charging. The voltage hasn’t risen much, but about 2.4kw’s have gone in so far.
I finally managed to get the ground relay working and have 0 volts on neutral though still a couple of volts leakage to...
Whilst attempting to tidy the workshop I thought I'd evict Betty's lithium batteries.
So I got distracted and put them in a box.
I then got to thinking they really need charging, so roughly connected them up.
Solar panels now getting a good workout.
I wonder how I'll know if they are charged?
