  1. Heating Van over Winter

I just drain down and leave it to itself, not had a problem in 10 yesrs. Apart from lockdown when if I hadnt temporarily swapped out the lithium for lead acid I would have flattened the lithium, too cold for 15 days on the trot to charge.
  2. Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

Thanks for answering that, looks interesting, I've succumbed to buying one to have a play, having been broken into once already while we were asleep it may give my other half more piece of mind.

  7. Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

I had to do the same, they changed the revenue weight but left the MAM at 3500kg, again I didnt want to argue with foreign plod so I just wrote to them quoting the V5C reference asking them to change the MAM as well to avoid confusion whilst abroad. I kept the V5C in case it went down a black...
  8. Turbo-charging Motorhome Electrics

I dont think the absorption time is an issue, the BMS controls the charge, mine starts to reduce at 3.45v/cell and the tail current falls to below 1Amp around that voltage such that Absorption for my Lithium setup on average lasts around 6 minutes then it drops to float.
  9. Violating a Princess!

I think Ive misinterpreted what you are trying to achieve! you have a Cerbo not a pi pretending to be a cerbo so just ignore what I said. Plugging a monitor into the pi should work
  10. Violating a Princess!

This youtube video will go a long way in showing you what to do, a lot you will already have done to get the venus os running on the pi to at least connect to the VRM. You have to change a config file and the video shows you how to that and also get the touch screen to work. I'm unsighted on...
  11. Violating a Princess!

The screen will work on a pi out the box, it will display something. The standard Venus software is by default in Headless mode which means its not expecting a screen. However it will still output something if connected to the HDMI port in the form of text showing that it is working but not the...
  12. Geeeees the prices being asked for 2nd hand campervans!

I bought my motorhome new in 2012, I could sell mine privately for what I paid for it.
  13. Accessing raspberry pi with no wifi

I dont think we are, mine was to solve a specific problem in how to connect via ethernet when a piece of hardware loses wifi connections. I would recommend a Huaweii Mifi as it has the ability to use wifi connections instead of a 4G data link which may incur charges for instance when your on...
  14. Accessing raspberry pi with no wifi

The GL-iNet arrived this afternoon, cracking bit of kit, solves my problem easily thank you for that recommendation.
  15. Accessing raspberry pi with no wifi

On the Huawei HiLink app under tools there is Wifi Extender where you can connect to preferred wifi Networks, the Mifi will then connect to that instead of 4G data link. I have the E5576-320 Mifi. Ive just taken my van back to storage so cant do any screen shots sorry. What I can say is it works...
  16. Accessing raspberry pi with no wifi

I do indeed have a Huaweii Mifi and one of the things I like about it is that if it is outside my house it connects to the house wifi using the wifi extender function in the app. The 3 phone signal is pretty pants around the house. Thank for all the information and help as ever.
  17. Accessing raspberry pi with no wifi

I totally agree re TV etc, this is about monitoring services within the motorhome, the Raspberry Pi is a poor mans Victron Cerbo GX so monitoring battery voltages and recording performance of those batteries, Lithium in my case as well as water and waste and a few other things. So as a...
  18. Accessing raspberry pi with no wifi

However your wireless repeater is interesting so bought one to play with :)
  19. Accessing raspberry pi with no wifi

Yes but I just cant help thinking with a laptop with an ethernet port, that I should be able to connect the two together and talk to the pi but I havent figured it yet.
  20. Accessing raspberry pi with no wifi

So you are away in van and your Venus OS raspberry pi suddenly loses wifi and you lose vrm data. you only have a mifi router with no Lan ports, how do you remote access the pi via the ethernet port with a laptop. I'm missing something I'm sure but I could not figure out how to do it. The problem...
