  1. Is this normal? Absorption to float transition

Thats very valid when you want to recharge as quickly as possible. However if your on EHU for a long period using a constant voltage say 13.5v as Victron do, then this will quite happily charge a LiFePo4 battery to 100% SOC but it will take a long time, that clearly depends on how much charge...
  2. Is this normal? Absorption to float transition

This is one of the questions https://community.victronenergy.com/questions/99702/ip22-rev2-mppt-syncronized-charging-how-the-storag.html
  3. Is this normal? Absorption to float transition

I dont know I guess it saves a few cycles if your parked up for a period on EHU. If I'm honest I cannot see a reason to top up with solar unless I want to be green then I'd turn the charger off. The most useful thing is gets temperature from the network so will not charge below a settable point...
  4. Is this normal? Absorption to float transition

The new Rev2 version of the IP22 with Smart Networking appears to take control of the MPPT charger and it seems to always be in the same mode as the IP22. This has been discussed on the community forum and I'm of the opinion if its connected to mains you dont need solar. The Mains charger picks...

Before mine went faulty I would have thought you could have done it without a relay but now I'm not so sure and anyway I would use a relay to ground the L input as I would not be confident that the D+ signal didnt just float when off. I'm off to see Onboard Energy on Friday and I will ask the...
  6. Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

Yes just connect the relay contacts between H & L inputs and control the relay from 24V. That way voltage is irrelevant. I assume when you say Disable the charger you mean enable it with the D+ signal when engine is running?
  7. Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

It came from Onboard Energy who are 30 minutes up the road so depending upon which way the conversation goes I could drop it off and collect a replacement else I'll wait :)
  8. Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

Ok lets just put this to bed, I've checked it again with H&L floating, H grounded, L to 12v just to rule out a fault with the impedance detection circuitry at the front end and it always powers up and starts charging as soon as the input voltage or engine shutdown criterias are met. It is...
  9. VRM updates

I don't I just gleaned all the information from the Victron Community forum. I am an Electronics Engineer so it was reasonably straight forward for me. There is a lot of information on the forum including the circuitry of the Cerbo Gx so it was just a case of copying the input circuitry from that.

Thank you, I do believe its faulty, it is still a charger and even with no plug in it still charges. What led me to it is for the first time in a year I was driving the van with the temperature hovering around freezing. The battery started to charge once the engine was started despite my...
  11. Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

I’m trying to enable the charger when the engine is running. At the moment I cannot stop it charging at any time apart from disabling the charger in settings. I should add I used to be able to. ie it all worked as intended for about a year but something has changed.
  12. Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

I can try that but then if that worked it would negate the idea of connecting that pin to ignition to enable it. As does the idea of a switch between L&H to enable it, neither of which work.
  13. Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

Anybody know if there is any circumstance when the remote contol (H or L) is disabled? Have I changed a setting which stops this action. My Orion TR Smart is charging at 30 A when H or L are disconnected, no jumper nothing. Soon as I enable the charger it charges. I thought this was not possible...
  14. VRM updates

It is annoying that you cannot see the networked temperature however I added two homemade temperature sensors to the RaspPi and it will display them on VRM, havent tried Node Red. This got me round the VRMs inability to display internal temps so one is connected to the battery and the other to...

I disable mine that way when Solar is strong enough to charge the lithium, mainly in the summer.
  16. Generator talks

There are also interesting discussions on Victron Community about who becomes the master in a networked system with MPPT, it appears that the recommendation is to ensure all chargers solar or otherwise are all on the same network as the IP22 becomes the master and ensures that the MPPT does not...

I don’t think it’s a fault just unintentional behaviour. It could be the home made ve direct interfaces. I suspect if I turned off the ve network on the MPPT it would work as described. But can’t try that as Motorhome is in the workshop.
  18. Victron Orion

I probably didnt explain it very well but I think you missed my point, with the Pi turned off, ie not working so not controlling the MPPT but still connected the Load output is not controllable by any means including Bluetooth. You can change the function from Always On to Always Off but the...

I have my victron MPPT connected to a raspberry pi via the VE direct port using homemade interface leads, I noticed yesterday when I turn off the raspberry pi and all associated kit the Load output switched ON and could not be switched off in the App although Off was selected. There is something...
  20. Heating Van over Winter

I use sockets that are controlled by the Smart Life App, same as the alarm you installed. Have proved uber reliable for me so much so that I have installed one on my Hive hub so that when we are away in Spain for 3 months I can reboot the heating when it gets unresponsive. I also have one on the...
