My @Millie' is now on SORN

SORN just like VED only ever goes from day one or the last day of the month, so if like me when I SORNed 'Millie' the other day, in effect I lost 10 days worth of tax because you never get a refund on that individual month (in this instance March), however we will be receiving a full refund for...

Little jobs I am doing whilst 'Millie' is on Covid 19 SORN

And after I have finished doing 'Millie' I am getting 'Madge' my MG 'F' out and will be removing her wheels, thoroughly cleaning and polishing them and then cleaning and coating the suspension before finally thoroughly cleaning and polishing the body...... oh what a busy bee I am!!

Little jobs I am doing whilst 'Millie' is on Covid 19 SORN

No doubt all of us self builders are always thinking of some additional things to do to our vans but sometimes our need to be out an about always results in those little jobs not getting done, however with my 'Millie' being on self imposed Covid 19 lock down (SORN), I thought that now is the...

My @Millie' is now on SORN

I would have thought that was obvious............. however as Wildbus has pointed out and as 'Millie' is parked away off the public highway, it saves us the money and possibly more importantly we both know she is on SORN and as such that has removed the temptation to go off somewhere in her. Phil

My @Millie' is now on SORN

Well I have reached the hard but sensible decision to put my beloved 'Millie' on SORN as we have cancelled all our planned tours for the foreseeable future! My only wish is that at some time later in the year we will be able to catch up on our lost travels.

    New Build

My most beloved now has her shopping off to a fine art. We normally shop with Tesco and as they are a few miles away she arranges for a delivery on a weekly basis, now with the Covid 19 crisis, she has her deliveries all arranged for 10am each week and has them booked up to 5 weeks in advance...

Let the Fun Begin... Citroen Relay Conversion

I honestly don't think it would be reckless Phill. Unfortunately I have both coronary and respiratory problems which result in me not being able to enjoy a full and active life these days and if I were to contact Covid 19 it would no doubt be curtains for me............... However, we have...

    Budget Generators ??

Well I will continue in my way of trying not to use anything but the bare minimum of electricity when we are out and about. With the exception of the 12v CR50 Waeco fridge and a very limited few 12v LED lights we don't use any electricity at all. Our only radio or music comes from the standard...

    Budget Generators ??

Oh please don't go down the gennie route Robert as so many people won't like you, including myself, because even the quietest ones make a far from acceptable amount of noise! Phil

    Greetings

Hello there and welcome aboard.............. do I gather your conversion will be a stealth? Phil

OMG - NOT ANOTHER Solar panel question !! ??

Robert, why oh why go for flexible panels as with all of those roof undulations they won't stand a cat in hells chance of adhering to the surface? Surely, as there is already one rigid panel which I presume is still working as it should do, why don't you simply bolt on several more panels. Phil

When it comes to van you converted, what was your worst decision?

I/we love our 'Millie', 5 years on after the build she is still totally rattle free and everything is still working perfectly despite her being used extensively. But there is one thing that I am always kicking myself about buying the (totally) unloved ex shop fitters van in the first place and...

Let the Fun Begin... Citroen Relay Conversion

Phill, do you have any plans to get rid of that small dent in the otherwise immaculate O/S rear door? Did you have any problems attaching that graphic? No matter how hard I try, whenever I have put any on I always get some small but noticeable trapped air bubbles which has seen me rip them off...

    SPRAY FOAM INSULATION

You're not wrong there Phil, but having now found the Sheffield based One Insulation, I now know for a fact that correctly applied there is next to no need to do any cleaning up after they have carried out the work as they are that good! Phil

    SPRAY FOAM INSULATION

Sorry Louise I can't give you the name of an individual company, however I have just done a search and you might find a suitable company from this site http://www.canaljunction.com/boat/insulation.htm The one thing that you should look for when looking at any of their websites is how smooth the...

Phill, did you do some panel beating when you repaired the dent or simply use filler? Your workmanship is looking good, I particularly like the slide out table from the dresser unit. Phil

    Renault Master tyres?

I tried two of the specialist remould tyre manufacturers including INSA and I am afraid that neither can offer any kind of get out of jail card!! I have tried using extra door mats Mark and I have even tried using our wooden ramps but for various reasons they proved to be next to useless. I...
