    How greedy are you?

I don’t have anything logging consumption but I get through approx 60 to 65 amps every 24 hours. That is averaged though but remains fairly constant

    The Red Beast

Totally unrelated to your van but we watched three hares chasing each other round a field this morning, seemed it is a good omen 👍

    Victron "quirk" in VRM

Good job I posted on here as it thought you had said it was the 100/20 that was good for 290w panels lol. Yes I will definitely have the 75/15 off you then Dave, I am fairly sure I will be at Kelso meet so no need to bother with posting. Pm me how and what you want paying 👍

    Victron "quirk" in VRM

I think it is about £50 difference between the 75/15 and the 100/20 isn’t it? Will try and take more notice of peak harvesting but it mean I need to be looking at the Votronic solar computer display at the time. Good point about cooler ambient temperature with strong sun, hadn’t thought about that.

    Victron "quirk" in VRM

I may decide to go with a 75/15 instead of doing what I was thinking Dave. I have been seeing low 270W coming off my Votronic 250 Duo so worse case I am losing less than 30W in ideal conditions and not the 50 I was thinking it would be. Not certain yet though

Bull bar mounted spare wheel question

Surely there must be an age cut off for this, can’t see manufacturers having to comply with pedestrian safety crumple zones the Construction and Use regs allowing anything at the front like a spare wheel, (even bull bars come to that)

    Chinese diesel ducting

The cost of that ducting and the uncertainty why not buy two heaters. Money wise it won’t be a lot difference and you will have more heat available, one each end of the van?

    Turbo-charging Motorhome Electrics

I haven’t watched the video yet but will do. I doubt I will change back to carrying lead acid but as others have said it sounds a neat way of extending what you already have. Modern vans and Motorhome’s May struggle with weight for lead acid whereas boats and houses will not have a problem

What are you doing to your van ready for the forthcoming season?

You will definitely need to vent some way. Looking at the tank and the location though you may be able to just unscrew the top lid a little when you park up the tighten when you drive off. Don’t know if they make caps for those tanks that will allow air in when tightened.

Few pics of my Iveco bus

This van lark gets a bit mental at times. I see inverter threads and think I will get one to run my 1Kw 240v immersion heater. I then think if I am doing that then I should get one that will run the microwave. Then after a few hours of firstly looking at modified sine wave then pure sine wave...

    Turbo-charging Motorhome Electrics

I haven’t checked but from memory (🤪😳) my batteries work down to -20 and they are just plain Lifepo4. It’s the charging side that changes with temperature 👍

3-Way Fridge running on AC in a Motorhome - Power Consumption Test

My fridge is a 110ltr Waeco 12v only and I run it constantly. I have noticed over the last couple of weeks I am using less power overnight Dave. Not massive amounts but maybe 5% more on SOC when I get up. This surely has to be less interior/exterior lights and less diesel heater though? Looking...

3-Way Fridge running on AC in a Motorhome - Power Consumption Test

Questions Dave, because Lifepo4 would maintain a higher voltage throughout the time you had no solar harvesting would it actually use less power than your lead carbon? I know higher voltage systems are more efficient but not sure if 1v is negligible if I have explained well enough. Would a good...

If I wanted to beef up security I would be looking at one of those steering wheel cover locks, actually almost clicked buy a couple of times, the other thing would be a pedal box type lock. If you have swivel seats then locking drivers seat turned will certainly make it difficult if you get a...

This is interesting for those of a geeky disposition

It’s a pity I didn’t have my battery meter when I was still using my Bosch/Varta PowerFrames. They go through the charge cycles fine and hold voltage well when standing, one of them has been working as a starter battery on the van for over 12 months now with now problem as well. Try to use them...

Diesel heater pump question, Webasto / Eberspacher / Autoterm / Planar

I have an Eberspacher and I just turn the stat down to 12 degrees at night when it’s cold, my pump is mounted in the engine bay and it does tick but I find that quite soothing. I it starts to cold down and I don’t hear the tick then I know it’s time to top up with diesel 😂

What to choose Box vs Panel van for campervan project

Is it same engines as in the Vivaro? Son in law hired a van yesterday and was impressed how well it went, he thinks it was a 1.9 but doesn’t know anything else

    Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

You may be surprised Dave, I have 300W on the roof but only a 250W controller so less max available than you and in good weather/summer I have no issues. My usage is spread out a lot though as main drain is my fridge, you will probably get more spikes with the inverter

If you are using your fron seats turned round I don’t think you can secure cab doors with strap/chain/bars but do double check. Make of van plays a part with some models reportedly easy to break in to. I have some armourguard(?) plates around cab locks but that’s it, mine is sprinter based...
