    Battery Charge Question

Ah, I see, mine is 311Cdi 2.1 turbo and is Year 2000 so again I don't have DPF to worry about I don't think Thinking about the B2B that @wildebus has been talking about to increase power to Batteries when travelling. An idea would be to run the cable to the Victron MPPT 100/30 that is currently...

    Battery Charge Question

Do you not have a B2B that will charge the Lithium by the Van engine alternator rather than running a Generator ? Or is a Generator better in this instance for value in charging the batteries ?

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Just as a Note, having recently done my CPC I asked instructors the direct question. "Can I use Red Diesel in my Diesel Heater ?" The answer was: "As long as you can prove that your heater fuel tank is completely separate from your engine's fuel tank then it is fine" So reduce costs and run Red...

    Earthing Questions

Someone recently pointed me to running earth 240V in on the Van to the copper pipe for Gas. A good tip. Makes some sense. I have recently wired a 240V Socket that has USB Ports, and it has two earth terminals on back, one saying to "functional earth" This is the socket...

Split Chargers - B2B & Relays: Which one - or Both?

Just wondering on the engine and Solar Side that on the Merc I have there is Solar always on via the MPPT and then also the engine alternator via the Cyrix-CT when the engine is running, will this potentially damage anything ? I would have thought not as the currents involved are not that high...

Split Chargers - B2B & Relays: Which one - or Both?

Had a look at Spec, think it would work in my situation when I have saved up for a decent inverter so will take it off your hands, thanks @wildebus

Split Chargers - B2B & Relays: Which one - or Both?

@SquirrellCook - think if I was going to do that on the MERC I would somehow get the cheap inverter to power the Victron Mains charger I have, this would need quite some cable run doing and logistics though as the Victron mains charger is in back of Van I suppose I could put a cheap inverter in...

Have you got a link for that ? That's an interesting and clever idea. I would need a wiring diagram for that though I think.

Split Chargers - B2B & Relays: Which one - or Both?

Interesting, thanks for the input @wildebus, what you said about charging and the fact that on a standard VSR split charge system then the LB side would not charge fully despite engine being on a long time, as the alternator does not output a charging profile like the MPPT Solar charger I have...

Split Chargers - B2B & Relays: Which one - or Both?

What are the advantages of adding a B2B in the set-up ? So with your help and others I now have a charging set-up on Solar that works incorporating all batteries from a Victron non-BT 100/30 and Vehicle battery will only be charged when leisure side hits above 13.2V and vehicle is stationary...

Best Place for BMV 712 when batteries are split front and rear ?

Yes, well in the current set-up that would take a lot more re-wiring and re-cabling and not sure that I want to do that yet so may leave it as a Winter Job, it would be quite a faff I think. Getting the Negative of the Batteries to the BMV would be easy enough but the Loads would be a completely...

Best Place for BMV 712 when batteries are split front and rear ?

Do you mean, one place where all the negative's go - at the moment the rear is grounded to bodywork at rear The front is grounded to Bodywork at front So the rear and front cables to ground would need to go to one ground point i.e rear cables extended to reach front ground point or vice versa ...
