Fitting Solar Panels Other Places ?

Fair Point, so might be worth then fitting direct to side on solid hinges if the side is flat and parallel enough at the fixing points.

Fitting Solar Panels Other Places ?

Now there's an idea, perhaps I could get some sort of rack fitted to side of van to carry full size Solar Panels and use the latest Solar Panels like these which I really like the spec of midsummerwholesale.co.uk/pdfs/lg-datasheet-neon2-320-325-330.pdf I could have the Panel come up on...

Fitting Solar Panels Other Places ?

Yes, could be the way forwards though a lot of work. Will have to look into that, was looking at something that was low cost and not that much work as an interim solution so Rear Doors could be a workaround.

Thanks for all that, I am looking for something that I can have on the Van permanently, not got that much storage so deploy-able panels not an option I feel.

Fitting Solar Panels Other Places ?

Thanks @wildebus for your pointers I am thinking that I could potentially fit 2 x Narrow'ish 200 WATT Flexi on the Rear Doors giving me 400 W there potentially, maybe go with the PVC pipe type mounts idea. My question would be though, are there any of the cheaper Solar Makes that are decent ...

Nice Little 4 Port USB Buck Boost

So whilst testing the Solar Panel I have also been testing this little Buck Boost 4 Port 5V USB Power Supply I got on EBAY https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/312726402975 The USB PSU was £5.99 when I purchased it though. I have been running a 3 Amp Supply through it today and tested each port which...

    3 D Printing Available - Small Components

Think it depends a lot on the Printer you have and also the way it is set up, he could probably help if you need some help. He said he joined a Facebook group that gave him advice on bed-levelling and some other factors to help sort out why some his prints were not working properly.

    3 D Printing Available - Small Components

Middle Son has invested in a 3-D printer and can print small things, fan covers, boxes for components and so on. Some print examples below: CAT Phone Holder Below is a Mercedes Badge that he printed for the Steering Wheel in the Van, where one was missing If you want anything doing...

Cheap 50W Panel Test - Ongoing

My plan on Van(s) is to make this new Merc suitable for all year round use. I want to upgrade the Solar but as folk have said putting Flexi on the roof may not be the best option. That is why I think a visit out to you @wildebus might be the best option so we can have a face-to-face and talk...

Cheap 50W Panel Test - Ongoing

So 3 x Bosch 110 AH LB and 1 x 160AH LEOCH AGM Checked them on tech data sheets and charge rates are similar so won't be an issue in set up Alternator, no idea, Van at garage. All brakes needed doing and one front ball joint The B2B I am thinking might be a better investment as would move it to...

Cheap 50W Panel Test - Ongoing

Great Idea, am tempted to move the Battery and Test Set up I have to South Facing; but the South facing Window has lead in so will cast a shadow. Can't set up outside as don't have cover south facing and could easily get rained upon. If you have any panels to get rid off then I am after another...

Cheap 50W Panel Test - Ongoing

So it seems now with the 100/30 plugged in that the Solar Panel is making so little power as to even record anything (sad face) so this 50 Watt Panel may just provide the smallest trickle charge to a battery but would be better to use a less Powerful Solar Controller perhaps

Cheap 50W Panel Test - Ongoing

YES I turned charger to OFF when I was removing it and disconnecting battery in Sylvia, OFF for maintenance. So as you have clearly pointed out, as has a member of the Victron Community, I cannot alter the settings without connecting to the MPPT 100/30 with either my phone over the BT dongle or...
