    Manual drill question

Ty Squiffy, I will take some new bits. Fingers crossed I won't need them. With regards to the question the scenario I was most concerned about was bending/breaking something on the underside and being on my back drilling out a bent bolt. So the first reply is a thumbs up, that's good

    Manual drill question

I am starting to think about the toolbox for my overland trip, I don't want to carry a drill/charger/battery for obvious reasons. If you are using a manual drill (never used one, to young :p) at an angle where you cant use body weight and only push are they still effective?

    Pop rivets?

Sorry Nabism but I don't understand. Resin and matting looks like it's for repairs so suspect I'm missing something

    Pop rivets?

I have some Sikaflex 521 UV on it's way in the post for a different job so it don't see why that wouldn't be suitable. I will try and read up on what Nabism mentioned as I'm not sure what he means at the moment. 'Many different versions of pop rivets'........that sounds like a thrilling hour of...

    Pop rivets?

No, not at all. I asked about pop rivets as the awning and a bar that the bike rack sits on are all pop riveted. I have no experience with fibreglass and the previous owner might have made a poor decision using them. I am completely open to suggestions (y)

    Pop rivets?

I will soon be fitting external fittings on to fibreglass, I plan to investigate the hab box shell for support struts (unsure of technical name) but for any places where the only structure is the fibreglass are pop rivets my best option? The loads will not be excessive...

    Solar water heater advice wanted

I'm not trying to put you off a solar project but unless you travel further south frequently I'm not convinced in the UK it's worth your time and money. Engine air or water would be an interesting and rewarding project

    Solar water heater advice wanted

My first thought was frozen pipes but you could drain down. What material were you thinking with reference to longevity due to weathering? I appreciate that it's not ideal for when you are static for a long period but if you are up for a project maybe using hot water from the engine to heat a...

Alternative to bubble rap silver, closed cell 2m x 50cm or this

But if you've got the space and the spare payload then it's great to have the option to actually fill it and really get to the back of beyond and not constantly be thinking about your consumption. Out of interest Sprinter does it have compartments within it to reduce the sloshing effect?

    Book recommendation

For people purchasing base vehicles, especially larger ones is 'Build your own Overland Camper' by Steve Wigglesworth a 'known' book that people will already be aware of? If not I might try to work out how to add a book link and description to resources but don't want to waste my time if all...

The classic cheesy 'new owners' piccy

I know what you are getting at but that's actually one of its winning features with regards to wanting a small camper but one i can stand upright in. I am 6'4 but my head doesn't touch the ceiling and the fixed bed is 6'2 so there is a compromise there but isn't there always when you are working...

Bought our Mitsubishi Delica back in January, still researching upgrades to no interesting pics yet. No idea how I have put the picture on twice, not very tech savvy!
