    carpet lining.

parked at the beach, where i spent years of my life, one of my fond memories is German hausfraus sweeping sand out of their carpeted Hymers at least twice a day, with the usual woefully inadequate handbrush ! each to their own. i always have a wood floor, with rugs that can be beaten outside.

    carpet lining.

i never really understood why anyone lines their walls and ceilings with carpet,i don't suppose they do it at home so why in the van? it retains cooking and other smells could harbour fleas, dust mites and other creatures collects dust and sand and hair etc,so i assume it needs hoovering normally...

fitting flettner style rotating roof vent to 08 boxer

if you get some bits of flat upvc plastic from a double glazing or roofing supplier, and some mastic/butyl tape from the same place or a camping shop, you can cut pieces to fill the roof corrugations to make the roof flat enough to fit the vent.this is how you fit any roof vent.i'll find you a...

that's one of the problems with forums-too much advice ! i'm a professional and have learnt how to do stuff my way,and for me it's the best way[of course] but i didn't reach this level without listening very carefully to other professionals.then i pick ther best advice and act accordingly.based...

    Condensation.

condensation occurs when moist air hits a cold surface,so presumably,if all the metal had carpet,or thin foam like camping mats or even old velvet curtains stuck to it,problem solved.then more insulation can be added as needed. i have only actually done this in the locker over the cab with up...

    Talk to me about torque!

does that put them in hard enough to countersink below the surface, and are you talking about an impact driver rather than hammer action.would love to not have to c/sink !

    Talk to me about torque!

you won't need impact. i have a countersink/drill bit with a few mm of drill showing, which drills and countersinks the ply in situ without touching the metal, then the screws fly in through normal van metal with a cordless. in fact normal woodscrews also go straight into the van ribs with a bit...

    Gas cylinder

it's not.the bottle is full of gas which liquifies at the top of the bottle,so lying it on its side would mean having liquid gas coming out of your appliances. not good! maybe you could cut a gas bottle sized hole in the floor so you can get half the bottle outside,i've done that to save space

    running a fridge

a Smartcom relay [£12-13 ] will keep the fridge going while driving ,and charge your leisure battery at the same time,if you have one. a decent 240v battery charger will run the fridge on hookup, and charge the LB. once you grasp it,it's not very complcated !

not bad at all! is that a hand operated screwdriver i see ? don't fret too much with the gas, just try and ensure you can see each connection and get at it with a plant sprayer full off water/fairy liquid mix, even if it means cutting a hole in the side of a cupboard and making a cover for...

    Charcoal/wood burners for heating

had a mate who burnt cork by forcing the draught on the fire downwards and created enough methane to run his lorry.i am told this was common technology during the war. the gas was kept in bags and strapped to the roof.we'll be doing that again soon!

    Charcoal/wood burners for heating

well i'm afraid i had no idea LIFE was going to be so complicated and dangerous when i first joined. after being violently expelled from my mother, i should have realised, but maybe i'm a bit dense.if it gets any worse, and the people in control keep forgetting to ensure my safety,i may top...

    Charcoal/wood burners for heating

trouble is i think a lot of regulations are written by people who don't necessarily have any practical experience of their subject, but having skimmed through the books feel they know what is best, like childless social workers given control over families, unmarried marriage guidance...

    Charcoal/wood burners for heating

4.5 metres ! does this mean that thousands of canal boat dwellers, plus thousands of van dwellers, small workshop owners, allotment shed owners and cottage owners are all going to die?? it's one thing making sure people are informed but whoever came up with this measurement is obviously so into H...
