    don't know if it's steel seems to be, but as Witzend says, use whatever olive comes with the joint. i get my 8mm connections from Screwfix and they have brass olives, so that's what i use. i have a feeling you may be worrying about different metals reacting with each other. never known it happen...

    eh ? by 'seal' i mean paint. lay all the boards out on trestles and paint/seal both sides

    make sure to seal that cladding on both sides before fitting, doesn't matter what you use, water varnish,emulsion, linseed oil etc. it wil definitely shrink badly if you don't

    do you mean recess the vent ? that works too, people often do it for the seitz windows too-bit more effort, but us retirees have plenty of time eh ?

    i may have done this one before, but there are usually 2 choices of rooflight for different roof thicknesses, if you have the thinner you may be able to swap it or ,after fixing, get some thin white plastic trim, about 50mm, from a d/glazing or plastics place, cut to fit and stick across the gap...

    security is almost irrelevant . there's a tool ,£3.99 from screwfix that will pop a bonded window or door window in a heartbeat, and people don't react to a single ,isolated noise seitz are pretty easy to fit,come as sliders or top hung and, more importantly, easy to finish off inside. bonded...

    you use what you've got. on the same van i used a catering s/s sink with a treated ply lid bolted on as an underfloor water tank, held about 25 gallons on another bus i used a domestic insulated copper cylinder hung in steel straps for water, it held 35 gallons . well it did till it came off...

    you may laugh but in one of my daughters' vans i used a s/s mixing bowl to give enough headroom for an overhead shower head. looked ok too

    make a frame from upvc or hardwood ,mount it on the roof, then fix the skylight to it , easy if you're feeling brave, build a molycroft down the middle
