MPPT vs PWM - The Solar Controller Test!

Just crude testing, but from what I remember all in parallel I had better peak current. Connecting in series and parallel reduced the peak current by a couple of amps, but what was notable was earlier and later in the day performance. This was with the fifth panel disconnected, As I've...

MPPT vs PWM - The Solar Controller Test!

I run semiflexible panels, 1. due to the fact that the roof covering is not much more than a big glass fibre bag. So hard to get a rigid mounting. 2. I wanted to avoid any kind of raised structure as I often end up pushing through trees. One of the panels I must have fitted during a dumb moment...

MPPT vs PWM - The Solar Controller Test!

When I first connected my Victron 100/30 MPPT I had 5 100watt panels in parallel. The performance was noticeable improved. Later I discarded 1 panel and wired them 2 pairs in series then that pair in parallel. Again the performance was increased. The next move will be to attempt to move 2...

Seat belts in bus and coach conversions.

Yes it's much easier to row if you are close to each other. You know, you went to fast, you went the wrong way and of course "don't feed me that it makes the steering wheel slippery!" ;)

Seat belts in bus and coach conversions.

I guess if you really must a seat besides the driver it does involve more work. Even mounting a single seat has to be thought about. Does it interfere with access to the habitation area, can the driver still negotiate the gear lever and if it's got air brakes that little knob can be...

Seat belts in bus and coach conversions.

The DVSA inspectors did suggest that being unrestrained should make you drive more carefully. The drivers seat I would like to replace/repair as it is an air seat that pins you to the steering wheel when inflated. Then when you hit a bump in the road you operate the throttle as you descend...

Seat belts in bus and coach conversions.

I won't go to heavily into the details, but with Murky's last MOT I was told It had to have a drivers seat belt. It had never had one from the day it was built. So one of the next steps was to talk to DVSA inspectors who warned against fitting a drivers seat belt to a vehicle not designed to...

Pro's and con's of 12 or 24 volt habitation voltage.

So at the moment still leaning to the 24volt side and a little of topic I've been reading up on the Multiplus 24/1200/25. Connectivity, it seems that this is not a Bluetooth device. So I'd have to convert to using the VE port? I read that once you use the VE ports you loose the ability to use...

How to sleep 2 and still have my wheelchair on board?

At a glance our beast "Murky" fits the requirements. More than enough room in the back with a low floor, so easy ramp. Then it starts to go wrong. The rear door is lift up, so that could be an issue if you were on your own. The bed is above the rear storage which is also a wet room with...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

As I read it the windows requirement was a minimum. What bothers me is the number of doors required. Though I do have an emergency exit, I guess that counts as a door to the habitation area.

MPPT vs PWM - The Solar Controller Test!

No Dave, I'm not singing the praises of the PWM devices. Quite the opposite. Some of the claimed MPPT ones I had purchased proved to be PWM in their behaviour. Since buying the Victron MPPT I'm more that happy with it. It does what I would have expected and more.

MPPT vs PWM - The Solar Controller Test!

Please don't think for one moment Dave that I'm trying to belittle you. My mastery of our language is poor at best, and I've been told I can offend unintentionally. As I've said before I admire what you do and your dedication to it. It just reminded me of a UPS test demonstrated to me many years...

MPPT vs PWM - The Solar Controller Test!

Is it not that simple using a power supply to mimic a solar panel? Please correct me if I'm wrong. You don't measure a panels potential yield by multiplying the OCV by it's Short circuit current. All the controllers I've looked at will adjust the charging load to collapse the voltage to a...

Victron MPPT 100/30 MAX Solar Input ?

It does warn in its spec not to exceed 35amps stall current, but I thought it only loaded the panels for how much current it wanted?

Victron CGX Raspberry Pi & VRM ?

Just a word of warning and I'm sure you spotted it too. Pin out numbers and or positions are far more useful. Colours can and often are random. And a read a little further and the same point has been made, I'll crawl back in my hole.

Victron MPPT 100/30 MAX Solar Input ?

From my bad maths you'd have a few watts to spare, from experience the hotter the panels get the worse they perform. So I think you'd be safe. My best solar yield has been in the UK.
