And no fire without........

(Sorry, I know I said I was bowing out of this thread but just couldn't resist - it seems appropriate that perhaps the last words of the thread should be...)

....Carbon monoxide

This thread is just like a fire - just when you think it has been extinguished it bursts back in to life. :)

On the subject of charcoal/wood stoves...

Here's some pic's of the the smallest, most efficient, high quality charcoal/wood stoves that I've ever come across. The manufacturer, Fatsco Stoves (USA) have been making cast iron and stainless steel charcoal/wood stoves for about a century.

Typing Fatscostoves.com will get you the link.

The extremely favourable reviews and owner's comments posted on live aboard boating, travel van and other websites, and the small size, light weight and miserly fuel consumption and high heat output made it my preference.

That, and the fact that I loved it at first sight!

Each individual component for these stoves is available, so in the event of accidental damage or an upgrade to cook top spec' or to fit the optional heat shield, you can get exactly what you want or need.

Here's a tiny cowl I saw for the Fatsco stoves, it's a small, neat unit that I still have not managed to locate in this size.

Disclaimer: I have no connection to Fatsco other than as an ordinary customer who bought one of their stoves at list price, after months of research to find a small charcoal/wood burner.

Charcoal wood burners

Being a ex boater, many many boaties have used these type of heaters on their boats..suppose a boat is just a floating campervan?! On our boat we had a Taylor's diesel heater for 10 years with no problems. It was well insulated from the fibre glass, had a chimney/ flue and was very efficient albeit a bit of a fiddle to light We obviously had a smoke alarm, co2 alarm and also has 2 gas alarms for the gas oven/ hob....if I ever had the choice of which heater, after being on many boats with various types of heating I go for an Eberspacher any day, clean, easy and quick heat.
