    Camper van water system

Hi Tony, I have to agree with Pudsey and say that to me at least you have greatly over thought out your pluming system. I am not aware of the vehicle you are building but calling it a Campervan suggests its similar to a VW T 5/6, if this is the case two 100L Internal tanks would be taking up...

    Additional seat-belted seating

I've fitted a few seats now with no hassle from the authorities. They must be fitted so that they are not liable to go through the floor in the advent of collision. I.e. bolted through the floor with the bolts going through strengthener plates if fitted to just the steel floor on the front legs...

Victron inverter power useage for different appliances.

Do you not have the facility of switching the inverter off when using shore power where by you are using solely the hook up power for fridge and hob + charging the battery and reverting to inverter when wild camping. I have to say that some sites only have an 8amp hook up though the standard...

    Warning

Darwinian theory 😁 Ps. There are many more Chinese diesel heaters in use than those of German origin yet you don't hear of the Government banning Chinese heaters because of the danger of monoxide poisoning. No unfortunately it's the installations that are at fault just as with Espacher if they...

    Warning

This is as I said, the majority of problems come from installation and not the equipment. As for co2, it's always necessary to have a good monoxide alarm installed too, I have two Fire angels Carbon monoxide/ Smoke alarms, one back and one front. I never ever run my Truma 4e when asleep unless...

    Warning

Most of what you mention has some truth in it Dave, but you have to pay your money and make your choice, let's face it most things that go wrong with the heaters ( Not the installation of them) is either electrical or mechanical failure and in most if not all instances do not end up catching...

    Warning

My view is that the majority of dangerous cases are caused by people that have no idea about the fitting and installation of items be they 12volt/240v/Diesel or Gas, or what the consequences are of a bodged or inefficient installation. It seems to me that if the write up is correct the reason...

    Satellites and the fitting of

Morning all, it's a typical late autumn day here at Tregegar House Caravan park, raining and not so warm so I thought I'd continue with my post on satellite fitting. Well I've finished the set up and have used it on multiple occasions since I first posted. Below are a few photos as promised...

    Fuses

The trouble with inverters I find is they are by nature 12v power hungry if used to power any AC product much over 3-400w and even if switched on but not supplying 240v they are taking ampage from the battery bank. I had to fit this inverter if I ever want to use Sky Q while not on shore power...

    Fuses

As for fuse rating I've just fitted a 85cm self seeking dish running sky Q And a Scr switch which is 20v running off 230v ac through reducer bricks so have had to finally add an inverter in the system to A) Run the Scr (Single cable operation) and B) Also run the Sky Q box. The inverter is a...

    Electric blanket when wild camping

At only 120w Pudsey if it was me I'd just try it out and see how long the battery lasts as 120w would be the max wattage during use on it's highest setting. Certainly in my view a 300watt inverter would be more than sufficient. The best test is to try it suck it and see. Phil.

    Satellites and the fitting of

Morning all, after our trip down to the South of France recently we lost our satellite signal about half way down, not the end of the world but really annoying as we lost not only Sky, freesat but also the radio stations, luckily we had arranged Smarty sims for our phones before we left so could...

    Very off topic

Have to admit Squirrell we went the easy way and payed an installer to fit ours 6kw yes it cost us £8.5k but since Feb when they came on line it has more than halved our leccy bill and we've sold enough back to the grid to more than pay the standing charge, our supplier doesn't except monthly...

    LPG in France

As some might be aware I'm touring France at the moment actually in South of France now. Although the gas We set off with is still plenty and will probably last us till we get home, started with about 16ltrs and have only used about a quarter of that in two weeks so far, its absolutely...
