Running tests on a battery, when is it stuffed?

If your interested in it's useful capacity Phil, a simple test is to connect a 21watt bulb across it and watch the volts drop. If a 21watt drain is not close to your average usage, just a add or remove bulbs to suit. It doesn't take much calculation to work out it's new capacity.

    Water tanks

Personally I prefer a drinking water tank to be made from stainless steel.

    Battery Drain

I removed the regulator pack in mine as it was just over 30 volts at times. The old one that replaced it seems to stop at 29 volts.

    Plotting and Scheming!

I use OneCNC and solidworks, so it would be dangerous to learn another set of commands. I still miss Autocad, but that was a pain in 3D.

    Plotting and Scheming!

How much work is done for you in this software. Does it have models of furniture that you can edit the sizes on or is it line by line?

    Battery Drain

You have to be very carful with older technology generators and switched mode power supplies and chargers. Not all are generator tolerant, and tend to go bang if not. Though I have noticed some of those open frame generators have better manners now. I'm believe it or not limited on space, and...

    Battery Drain

Also the generator was not happy with a very light load. One day it would be interesting to borrow one of those honda 1kva generators to see if they are quieter and better behaved than my cheapy from Machine Mart. Though I seldom use a generator these days.

    Violating a Princess!

It makes such a mess and often you can't get to the bit most needing it. I'll trim away anything I consider too far gone and chemically treat the rest.

    Battery Drain

After one day and a little solar help all is good in the world. The generator is ran for 3 hours and the batteries are topped up. Next was to run for 2 days on batteries Solar was not as good and 3 hours charging was not enough. Three and a half hours drive home was not enough to get...

We have a full size domestic cooker and wouldn’t be without it. I had caravan stuff when I lived in the back of a lorry, glad to be shot of it. Grill and oven in use now cooking my breakfast.

    Calorifier system

Just checked and my D2 and lighting are pulling just 1amp or 29watts on a 24volt system this evening.

    Calorifier system

If you mean having the ignition on is the first click of the key. That should not do any harm. If you are worried about the battery, fit a BMV.

    Calorifier system

Yes Dave the heater needs to pump the coolant. This pump is normally combined with the heater. Sometimes it’s required to use a second or more pumps if your system is restrictive. There are many ways of plumbing these depending on what you are looking for. I use mine for engine preheating...

    Calorifier system

I think your hydronic 5 would be more than enough for all your water heating needs. Yes the water does need to be circulated all the time. Without knowing more about your setup I can't comment. Though crudely the heater needs a power supply, this is normally fused. Then it needs a start...

    Calorifier system

You should have most of what you need without spending much more. First thing 500W 240v element for the calorifier, you can you use a small generator without getting a hammering. I've seen many circuit diagrams of how to install this stuff, most seem overcomplicated. I'm convinced Mine is...

    Victron defeat....

Should this not be an example of why you should research a product before buying it. I was told a story by a Castrol ex chemist. And also had an experience to back it up. Sales and marketing often do not use or consult the chemist when making claims about a product! Had a similar problem last...

You forget Dave, we're talking about a Dutch company, just imagine it could be twice as bad ;)

    Upgrade

Wasn't so bad as most of this was over 10 years. Getting a fridge to do what I wanted was annoying for a few months. This years expenditure does seem daft, considering it will be up for sale soon. On the plus side I'm more confident about the new build.
