    Gas Locker

That does look like a big waste of space. Has anyone thought about having storage lockers in the floor?

    Solar query

Always good to run ideas past others Dave, You make a good point. I could have a display somewhere handy to the engine start bank and the habitation bank.

    Solar query

Thanks Dave, I intend it all to be done with new kit. This can be the danger buying stuff to early. Cerbo looks tempting. Also read about SmartShunt, I wonder if that’ll be cheaper than the 712.

    Solar query

Good to know Dave that the Victron MPPT’ s haven’t formed a relationship yet. I’d have been annoyed if they wouldn’t mate. For a big vehicle I don’t have much roof space. So two panels each side in series is the most that will fit with ease. Keeping the wiring tidy it will be easier to have two...

    Solar query

I'm running a pair of https://midsummerenergy.co.uk/buy/flexible-solar-panels/miasole-120W-CIGS-flexible-solar-panel down each side of betty's roof. I too was wondering about two controllers. Any real life pro's or con's? Two of these would be on the limits, but cheap...

New Old Merc and Needs a Good Clean

I'm afraid with washing solutions I'm a bit old fashioned. 1st. choice, washing up liquid in water. 2nd. choice, liquid flash ranging from neat to diluted. 3rd. Traffic film remover ranging in strength again. 4rd. Used to be machine cleaner, but not as good as it used to be. last result now...

New Old Merc and Needs a Good Clean

So I had to Google, what the hell is this?? It's nice to share others experience. Took a while to find a real action one. Yes it appears to work well, but my thought was it's spraying the inside of the car with muck! Anita has a look and says it's pushing the muck into the upholstery. So...

New Old Merc and Needs a Good Clean

I'd be tempted to keep it in until I noticed some warmth or leaks appear. I guess a 100 miles or so. If I'd noticed an improvement with the heating, I'd dump the water and try to flush some clean water though to remove any rubbish trapped. Then repeat the procedure with some more cleaner and...

Put some radiator cleaner in it and run around for a week or so. Keep an eye on the water level as you might discover something else.

    Victron Controller

I've been reading it, but so many options to plug things in. But then some will work and some won't, other like it and other don't! Sounding very much like modern life. Male, Female, Male and Female Homosexuals. Then those that just don't know.

Balancing Batteries / Mixing Types in Battery and Solar - Problems, Issues & Solutions ?

With panels I suspect if they were in series, the lowest current panel would limit the others. Not so sure in parallel as I guess the stronger panel would drive the volts up, but I expect the weaker would be heated. Kirchhoff type problem me thinks.

    Batteries under the bed

I do wonder as to the qualifications of those that do it and the so called habitation checks. I've seen houses not fit to live in and people not fit to live in houses. (not qualified in either, just experienced)

    Gas isolation valves?

Murky is the same as yours Phil. Didn't make sense introducing extra joints. BTW I don't expect it counts and I bet out of date, but I have a BOC gas safety certificate. As for Insurance wanting as Corgi installation, I would say your insurance is not fit for purpose. Last year our works...

    Batteries under the bed

The worst of it was we have no idea how it started and when it was as we were not in it. The top had burnt away on one of the batteries. The water was pressurised and put it out. Very very lucky.

    Batteries under the bed

After a Battery fire, Murky had a new home outside made for the replacement batteries. Fortunately burning through the water pipes put it out. Betty will have four six volt batteries technically under the bed, but around 2 metres below. Vented to the outside and in a steel lined box.
