DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

Ok folks just been onto DVLA, and its as I originally thought that its all to do with vans that have been converted and do not look like motorhomes. Their criteria has not changed other than they are being far more strict in their assessment of what a van looks like, if externally it does not at...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

There is minimal difference between metric tons and imperial tons, so it would seem to me that one or the other has made a typo, 3.05 seems a very odd number as far as I am aware there is no commercial vehicle class of that weight.

    Composting Toilet

Morning Nick, I'm not hi-jacking your thread, but I must admit to being confused with "Urine seperate" so I googled this article and thought it might be of interest to others reading your thread. 🙂 In many applications the choice is between the two types of composting toilet; a urine...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

The possibility is that the MoT station may not be able to test the vehicle as presented anymore if it no longer has V5 classification "motor caravan" they may have to test it as an HGV, after all if the Police do not care what you have done to the inside then it is an HGV vehicle and I...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

It also remains to be seen if these changes are going to intrude into the MoT test criteria too, it may not but then it just may do, this is another avenue which might be made a dead end street. Phil

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

In all honesty Nick it makes it easier for us too, as you would have to reach an agreed value with your insurer any way regardless of it being called a motorhome or van with 15 grand of equipment installed. The only thing that was a blocking situation was insurers would not insure you until the...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

I just wonder what the situation would be if you had a van that looked like a motor caravan and was reported to the police for some reason and when finally stopped you were accused of travelling in a vehicle that was not as described on the V5 i.e. a panel van ?. Phil

Yes pity about Malvern Nick maybe next time😁. Thanks for clarifying the conversation, it will be very interesting to see what the converters like Swift Auto trsil and the like say, in fact tomorrow just out of interest I'll phone Swift customer services saying I was thinking of buying a...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

Well done Nick, in all respects so long as the insurance companies do not hike the premiums then it really does not make any difference, as for speed limits I personally very rarely do more than fifty in any case, apart from on the motorway that is. Though I have to say I'm a little confused...

    Malvern Great western motorhome show

Just arrived back from the above show, we go nearly every year just to see what's changed. To be frank there doesn't seem to have been a major change from last year, one thing we did notice was the LED lights have been updated to flashy'er types and to be honest that seems to be it, most...

    Cheap vs expensive

Indeed I am not trying to, I'm acting as Devils advocate to try and save folk from spending copious amounts of money unnecessarily, it just seems that only you are responding negatively to savings that can be made in the areas of electrical applications and gas as I recall, C'est la vie, As...

Dave it was the cheapee one he made wobble board noises with and it still out performed the 3 x more expensive one and as for the cheapo controller I have one exactly the same and its been charging my liesure battery with no problems for almost 5 years if my battery gave up the ghost now I would...

    TABLE TOP FRIDGE

Dave I do believe that was my sentiment, that many pure waves are also built with economically produced componants unfortunately the vast amount of electronics are now produced in China or Malaysia all be it under a European company license Ten or fifteen years ago they did produce electronic...

    TABLE TOP FRIDGE

This is very pertinent advice, but ofcourse this is just as relevant for Full sine wave models, and there are just as many Full sine waves models out there that are just as economically produced as Modified sine wave and could be just as likely to fail, it's a fact of modern life that there is a...
