The continuation of the build. Kitchen cabinets now in place as is the heating and water system, gas cupboard and regulater all connected up and tested, now for the worktop, cooker sink and tap. Beginning to wear me down a bit now, I've been working on it continuously for 2 months now hopefully...

Could this be why the DVLA are such an inefficient pain?

I was lucky it only took six months for my Grandfather license to come through. Bloody DVLA workers all need sacking so they have to go and apply for a real job. As was mentioned in the article, every one else has had to carry on, Amazon is by far a bigger workforce than the DVLA and they have...

found this do not know if it is in right place

Hi, good info but would probably be better posted in the "Resources " section, though posting it here first let's folk know that it exists. 😉 Phil

    New build Sis-in-Laws Motorhome

All day job, carpeting the sliding door which has to be done before the kitchen is fitted or else you have to remove the door to do it. I've used my usual tile edging to hide the carpet edges. You have to use a hot air gun on low to heat it up and mold it round a preshaped piece of ply and on...

    Internal Roof Bearers/ Wood Type

Faith and confidence Robbo, when all is glued into place and the glue has set it will be a rigid sheet and as I said strong enough to stand on. The original builders would have done stress loading tests to a mimimal build cost and you by putting in extra trusses have improved on that 👍. Phil

    Internal Roof Bearers/ Wood Type

Sorry mis read your last, that you have already increased the amount of cross pieces, my view is with ply section top and bottom with 25mm celotex sandwiched between it would be plenty strong enough and I would even guess strong enough to stand on the roof to clean it 😁. Phil

    Internal Roof Bearers/ Wood Type

Was the original construction a complete ply sheets above the trusses which were stuck to the ply sheets and then sheets of ply stuck to the bottom of the truss which would act as a box section and vastly reduce the amount of sag and as you say the 25mm celotex would also increase the rigidity...

    Internal Roof Bearers/ Wood Type

I assume that the material above the trusses, is the aluminium skin of the roof. Do you mean that without the support poles that the beams visibly sag? I would imagine you have copied the beam spacing and sizes as per the original, if so then the possibility is that you have used soft wood as...

If you have two windows on each side of the Habitation then you have obviously exceeded the window criteria, if you have the decals and the usual protuberances on the outside such as vents, waste tap etc and you have an awning or atleast an awning rail then I would go for an independent...

    New build Sis-in-Laws Motorhome

Hi Mark, only last week Rip Of Britain had a piece on a guy who had been failed by the DVLA, his van was without doubt a motorhome but they refused twice until he wrote to Rip Off Britain and after they got involved it was suddenly "We are very sorry, there must have been a mistake made, and...

    New build Sis-in-Laws Motorhome

Doesn't seem a lot has been done but building the fridge box is quite exacting and it has taken time to make sure everything is a tight fit but enough room to slide the fridge in. You will see in the photo I have made an opening in the top to allow for easy gas pipe connection and leak testing...
