Bed showing the slide out to almost full width. Because it wasn't quite wide enough I created some clip in extensions to bring the bed up to a full 4' 6" width. From start to finish we can now change the sofa to a fully finished made up bed in approx. 1 minute.

The overhead lockers which I did a weight carrying test on by doing some pull ups on the frame construction prior to facing with the oak faced ply............. needless to say they are very strong!

The almost finished fridge and cupboard/fridge section that is immediately between the bed and the shower/loo. You can also see the finished location of the Henry water heater and Propex 1800 heater.

Almost finished....... what this shot doesn't show is the fact that I made a totally idiotic mistake of making the seat cushions too short! Luckily we were able to pattern match the material and bond additional lengths of foam to facilitate making them up to the correct length............ boy...

The almost finished kitchen area prior to laying the ceramic tiles.

The finished kitchen. The small cupboard nearest to the front was a last minute addition where we made use of the spare space above the SafeFill gas cylinder.

    RSafeFill.jpg

Because the entire construction of 'Millie' was made to the lightest specification, I decided to use an ultra lightweight SafeFill glassfibre gas cylinder that is housed in this cupboard. I also in alliance with the boss of Gasit, came up with a way of being able to fill this cylinder up from...

The all important and now famous shed that has proven to be an amazingly useful storage area. Having spoken to so many motorhome and campervan owners prior to my build where I asked them what was the most missing aspect of their vans and almost to a man they said it was the appalling lack of...

What van are you talking about @Brett ?

    Build or Buy ?

Believe me Robert, when after 30 odd years of being a tugger (touring caravan owner and caravan site builder and owner), no one was more suspicious about the supposed pleasures of owning a motorhome/campervan which is exactly the reason why we decided to buy an old van in the first instance to...

    Build or Buy ?

I would never ever consider buying either a professionally converted or privately converted van as you honestly don't know what you are buying! My base van cost me £3,500 and I know I could have converted it within your budget @RAW, however as my plan was to build it to the highest standards I...

    Stupid or daft?

Hello and welcome to our happy fold, I am glad to see that you decided to join a totally dedicated bunch of nutters who are likely to give you far more considered and generally levelled advice than is banded around over on facebook which is why I suggested that you ought to try giving us a go...

    motor oil

As long as you have kept the lid tightly closed on the oil can or bottle then the remaining oil should be OK to use. I know I find this kind of thing to be a right old PITA, when, like in the case of for instance my Renault Master, the sump capacity is greater than the largest standard sized...

    Different fresh water systems

When I was a tugger the water systems fitted to the vans proved oh so very often to be an absolute pain with the Whale pump constantly switching on and off and a frequently pulsating water supply which made showering a very unpleasant task! So I fitted a constantly pressurised system with an...

    Spray adhesive for polystyrene?

And without fear of contradiction that is closed cell spray foam!!

    Am i missing something ?

In my caravan owning past I always clipped on the fridge blanking plates during colder weather the reason being that the darned vans were so terribly made that a darned gale would blow in is they weren't covered and that isn't best practice in the cold winter months. On my properly built...

    Spray adhesive for polystyrene?

    Spray adhesive for polystyrene?

Your problem is Dave that most commercially sold polystyrene is open cell and that means the solvent in almost all spray adhesives will dissolve it. If you are wanting to have a full and even coverage of the adhesive, then the only way I can think of is to laboriously lay strip after strip of...

Roof light yes or no ?

Dave; have you found a place to go to, to obtain any suitable material to fill in the ups and downs of your vans roof as you can't simply use mastik to fill in the steps on the roof? If you haven't, then it might be worth your while to pop along to a local (smallish) upvc window installing...

Having finished the build.....it’s time for a smarten up of the outside.
