NO VSR / Split charge or anything else !! Cyrix or Battery Protect

Good to know (y) I think I will nip out now and take some pictures of the set-up as it is for reference. Pictures are here: (the last ones are the battery areas) https://photos.app.goo.gl/Z3Uxcjtc1vx4jMiQ8 I will likely get the Split Charge Kit with the Cyrix from you then together with the...

Very Confusing & Poorly done electrics plus Amp Flow when no obvious termination - CONFUSED

Yes it is and as far as I can tell no there are not any protection devices The cable running from +ve vehicle side to +ve Leisure side is pretty hefty 10mm by the looks, the rest of the work is a mixture of not particularly good and often domestic wiring, but there is nothing with particular...

NO VSR / Split charge or anything else !! Cyrix or Battery Protect

So new Merc is wired direct from Vehicle battery to leisure side on +ve with NO VSR or anything else in the way (AAGGGH!!) Is it best to get one of these: www.onboardenergydirect.co.uk/shop/Victron-Cyrix-12-24V-230A-Intelligent-Battery-Combiner-CYRIX_12_24V_230.html#SID=200 OR could I use one...

    Solar query

3 x 150 Watt panel = 450 watt Max P=IV 450/12 = I I = 37.5 A (MAX) That's a simple calculation really so I have a 285W Panel and Solar installer I used recommended 100/30 MPPT from Victron which he said was a bit over spec but best be on safe side, sadly I got a dumb one and not a smart one...

Very Confusing & Poorly done electrics plus Amp Flow when no obvious termination - CONFUSED

It is not a high-end meter, just a good quality clamp meter as recommended by Big Clive Going to bang @wildebus (David) in here as he's not see this thread yet by the looks and may well have something to say. Not 100% sure (need to check) but don't think there is any VSR or separation between...

Very Confusing & Poorly done electrics plus Amp Flow when no obvious termination - CONFUSED

Nope and there are some red leds on camera that remain on as well, maybe poor UV ones or something Father-in-law said I could get a Free battery test at Halfords so that might be the next step....

New Merc Van (name to be decided) has a reversing camera which the previous owner said was a drain to the battery and flattened engine battery after approx 1 week. I have tried to figure out what is what and am now very confused so Camera itself & monitor is definitely drawing power when engine...

    Electric only

As Nabsim says, small generator would also help in a potential all electric situation. New Merc that I have has one of those cheaper Chinese heaters and runs pretty well, guy I bought it off said 10 litres lasted him about a week living in her. As Diesel is seperate tank then if you can get it...

    Electric only

Too true, I was relatively new to it all early last year and the most sage bit of advice anyone has given me is: "Don't go overboard on the first Van as there are likely things that won't suit, e.g driving position, design factors that cannot be altered and so on. So it is all, at times, a steep...

    Electric only

Best bet is to tag folk like @wildebus in the thread for input David (@wildebus) is your man for all things electric and more. From my own perspective, you will need quite a large capital outlay and I would say in Winter in UK 3 days off-grid would be hard with anything less than potentially...

I guess a pull out bed would do the trick too but most van's I have come across seem to have fixed double at rear with storage at back accessed through rear doors and/or under bed. Not seen a Pull Out bed anywhere that can be left made (it is the bed-making that is the pet-hate for us), overhead...

New Solar Controller and Leisure Battery for Sylvia

Thanks to @wildebus for the supply of this controller which looks to be working well so far. With hindsight I should have done some before and after pics. The Victron kit is now removed from Sylvia as is the 110AH Leisure battery.
