    Stickers for classification?

The dvla want your van to look like what it’s registered as! So if you have a “bus” with the windows still intact and looking like a bus, it’s not going to be reclassified as a motor home whatever you do inside.... your van must look like a motor home ( motor caravan ) so try showing your...

    24v system

We fitted a ring one in our Vario 814. Been very good. Red flash 35amp b to b 24 v from engine drop down to 12 v for the leisure batteries. Only kicks in when the starting batteries reach 26 volts, so keeps the starting batteries topped up before charging the leisure batteries. Hope this helps...

    LPG Gas Fitter wanted

Gas installations isn't that hard to do really, if you confident & comfortable with this type of work. It's within a diy motor home, builders capability. Although I wouldn't recommend it if you don't think you can do it. Much the same with electric installation. Darren.

Help with choosing length of van

Converting a van is quite a lot of work & expenses. so you MUST plan well. First decided what you need, i.e. Fixed bed, shower, toilet, do you need full cooker with oven? What size sink, fridge, storage. Etc. Then draw up some to scale plans of a swb & a lwb van. See what fits, & what you...

Mechanism for drop down bed/using memory foam mattress topper as a bed

I've seen some panel vans with a pod grafted onto the side, to give enough withe to sleep across the van? But I do think that a drop down bed is something that could work if you have the head room. Some vans have a lifting bed, over the garage area which is on a wind up/down winch system. I...

    Solar panel on roof box...

I not sure that a typical roof box lid would take the weight of a solar panel? Over the long term, Most of the roof boxes I've seen are pretty flimsy, Wouldn't be my first choice! Darren

Motor home build - Plenty of questions!

Hi..... Vario 's have pretty much bullet-proof mechanical . So you don't have to worry to much about the mileage, the body work is probably more important, they have a massive truck chassis so no worries there either. The worst rusting area is under the slam panel under the windscreen. Looj...

Solar how to know how much I need?

I'm looking at fitting solar panels to the roof of our van. The van is a Mercedes 814 so plenty of space! I will be using a compressor fridge, & blown air heating which I think will draw the most! Then we'll have 20 led light scattered around? The power to the cooker ( lighting it ) the power...
