    Which Van

I’d agree the library bus is a good choice. Don’t worry to much about length it’s the withe that’s far more constraing. We have a 7.5 vario 814 it’s 7.7 mts long with the bike rack! We’ve been all over Cornwall & North Wales, with no problem. Anywhere a service bus can go so can we! The...

Problem with finding a back box or bike carrier?

I’m building one for our van, I had, intended to fit a motor scooter rack, now we’ve changed our mind and I’m going to fit a box on the rear instead. It’s made from the aluminium chequer plate, that covered the van floor when I got the van. I’v used aluminium angle for the frame. Bolts to a...

    Cutting tool dilemma

I used a circular saw, for cutting large straight cuts, I a jigsaw for short or curved cuts, always cut 5 mm over size and plane down with my electric plane.

    Spare wheel?

When I was a delivery driver for Dawson’s ( newspaper magazine etc) the vans all had their spare wheels removed! Apparently there insurance didn’t allow for the driver to change a tyre! We had to ring the transport manager, who would send out a 24h tyre fitter. Crazy world we live in.... Darcar

I do love Landies, this ex ambulance Series 2A has definitive possibilities... mmmmmmmmmmmm

I go out most weeks, with a couple of mates, I love green lanes there’s some really fun lanes not to far away. I’m not extremely though, I don’t like breaking my truck as I like to drive it home after... I joined Glass a few years ago and have been out on a lot of the trips they run, for a...

I do love Landies, this ex ambulance Series 2A has definitive possibilities... mmmmmmmmmmmm

Ahh Phil Take off your rose tinted glasses..... it’s a land rover, bulkhead rust is only excusable, with a body off resto. I used to be a fan of the green oval, but they beat me in the end... so i now use a JEEP wrangler for my green Laning, it’s been brilliant. Darren.

    Peugeot Boxer oil filler point

Morden engines are fitted into a lot of different vehicles, so the makers will often put in oil filling points in different places so there not blocked by the bulkhead etc. I don’t think it matters which one you use, so whichever is easiest. Darcar.

    Spare wheel?

I wouldn’t leave home without a spare wheel, well in our camper anyway. Although interestingly, I was chatting to a car designer down the pub, the other night. ( I know this sounds like a joke ! any way,) the space saving spare wheel came up in conversation. I was arguing that they are...

    Plywood

We bought all our beach faced ply from our local timber merchant, they were very helpful and allowed me to be chosie on which sheets I wanted. Most of our finished ply has been polyurethane varnished as the finish, so it had to be quality ply. Darcar.

    Mercedes 811D 1989

Yeah Phil, It’s been in the back of my mind for awhile now! I just hope that they stick to cities, we don’t really like them & if we do go we stay well outside and go in by public transport or taxi. The stupid thing is that even if our “old dirty van” kicks out the dangerous particulates...

    Mercedes 811D 1989

eBay is your friend for the bits you need, also remember German eBay. One thing that is for sure if you keep on top of the body work the mechanicals and chassis will never let you down. These old Mercs are capable of a million miles. Yours being the 811 won’t have very much in the way of...
