    Counting the cost

It did seem never ending at times but it is a big space and took some filling, but we are happy with it and the end is not far away. So if all goes to plan I am taking six months of from the end of March and we will give her a good shake down.

    Counting the cost

For the first time I have totalled the cost of my build to date, primarily for an agreed insurance valuation as it is due this month and I need to up the cover. I have not included the vehicle purchase price or things like tyres lights etc. Insulation...

    WildeSquirrell safety Socket.

I think your point being a one action solution ? plug into supply, all good plug into vehicle job done 😁 I realise I have added a separate component and action but for me it was an easy solution that required no electrical wizardry.

    WildeSquirrell safety Socket.

Being able to use your safety device to test the socket polarity before connecting struck me as such a good idea that I wanted one. Not being as comfortable with electricity as you and Dave are I came up with this, no innovation but works.

    Internal vs External Storage

Mine were in an outside locker when it was a library I moved them inside to free the locker up so I could keep stuff like wellies spare cassette etc out of hab area. They now live under a bench with all the other electrical components.

    Ram Envy

Most I have had it raised for is about 6 to 8 days no noticeable drop but I would be suprised if id had not lost some pressure. I agree with wind worries, I am no engineer but I have bent some things over the years.

    Ram Envy

Came upon this today and had to ask the owner to move it so I could get in to the drive adjacent. Those levelling rams were a joy to watch in action, I have rear air suspension but would love those on the front...£££££££

    Eberspacher D1LC servicing

Yes I think moving the intake to the front and a foam silencer would help, currently located in habitation entrance steps so fairly central. I will add it to my list of revisions (first timer build errors) The erberspacher itself is in an external locker like betty so we hardly hear that.

    Eberspacher D1LC servicing

A good Squirrel guide, I will tackle this at some point. I also need to silence my air intake that draws air from inside, without measuring I would say it’s around 100mm pipe and sounds like a jet readying for take off on startup and shutdown.

    Eberspacher D1LC servicing

Without this site I would not have been able to rewire mine after cutting all the original wiring out leaving a gap of a year before returning to it with a blank memory. Lesson, document everything 😁

    Violating a Princess!

I understand your frustrations with existing wiring, I had battles in my library conversion with wiring but no diagram and at a later stage than I would have liked replaced it all. Yours is looking good, hard work paying off.

Tacho calibration is what you need Trev, usually required after gearbox repairs to ensure correct speed reading.

I did not realise until driving home after the test that the speedo was not working, the tester only drove it from the garage door to the ramp 20 yards or so. He did not seem concerned about the lack of mileage display and really no opportunity to test the speedo, either way a lucky break for me.

    Mot

Had my 7.5mgw conversion mot done today and thankfully it passed. After looking for a garage with a ramp large enough I booked a class 4 test presenting it as a motorhome. The examiner was happy that it was a motorhome squeezed it onto the ramp passed no problem £45.00. I wanted to get away from...
