  1. 'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Thanks for posting this info Would I be safe to assume you would recommend one of these Chinese heaters? Given the price compared to the established makers. Any preferred supplier? I expect a 2 kw one would suffice in our 5 metre long van.
  2. Apart from the sevel vans, are any vans wide enough for a full size bed past the ribs

Surely one would fall over repeatedly as one fell asleep? Hanging like a bat might be nicer! I looked at a hammock as a second berth but with the ropes they would be a bit long (3.1m) for our small van. Would just fit diagonally but I felt would be in the way if another wanted to move along...

  4. Water containers.

Our last van had 10 litres in a plastic can below the sink with a whale sub pump feeding the tap. We bought a 19 litre tank for the new project, conversion in progress. If you look at the camping shop web sites you will see various sizes and shapes of water container, tall and thin to wide and...
  5. Water containers.

Where do you get the figure of 5 litres from? I cannot see that anywhere in the government guidance: Converting a vehicle into a motorhome - GOV.UK I would not take the requirement for water storage to be “fixed” too seriously either. As long as it is secure and can not “escape" to cause damage...

  7. 23-year-old £1,200 Stagecoach bus transformed into motorhome

I rather like the paint job but otherwise agree with everything said above. When I said rather large that was very much tongue in cheek as it is about four times larger than I could manage! But there were 40 bids and someone paid £20,100 for it :D

  9. What do you think of this....

I like it too. When / if I manage to get a little newer and bigger van I would love to see it in green camo in this pattern
  10. Insurance for self build?

Thanks both for your replies that encourage me to look further into a DIY conversion. JoMutch, Interesting that C&CC cover you as I had previous dealings about their Club Care Insurance with Ageas. Although fairly priced they only offered me a policy for a “Motor Caravan” as they said this was...
  11. Insurance for self build?

Hello, hope it is ok to resurrect this thread with a query. I am thinking of doing a simple but “DVLA Motor Caravan” compliant DIY conversion of a SWB Ducato, Transit or Vivaro van. Spoke to the chap at AIB who was not very encouraging about self builds. He suggested it would take loads of...
