    240V for everything!

I guess it depends on what you classify as cooking, and how long you camp up for. Couple of tins of beans is one think, slow cooking a decent bolognese sauce for 3 or 4 hours another, and most important, how many cups of tea needed. :) If I were going all electric I'd be looking at more ah's...

    Project van?

Asking price is probably on the high side, but then a tidy example same age similar miles could well be £2000 more. All down to budget and how long you want to spend looking.

Well I’ve gone & bought our next van.. although it’s not a van yet!

Right choice of truck. You could probably go for granite work tops and still not worry about being overweight. Not suggesting you should, just saying you could  As you mention, it will take it's toll on MPG. A mate who has a 7.2 tonne Daily is for ever pointing out, he could carry my van...

    Yikes - new battery price

Yes, thats the way it works on my van, 14.8 and very occasionally 15.2 on overrun, 12.6 or 13.8 (depending how long I've been driving) under power. With headlights on 13.6, doesn't drop to 12.6. Just smart alternator, no regen brakes.

Great looking truck and what a great project. As close as you'll ever get to starting with a completely clean sheet.

    New build questions

Combining loo/shower area with ingress/egress point can save a lot of room and allows for a lot more options of layout especially on a L2. Can understand why people don't like the idea, but everyones entitled to be potty. :) Other downside is if you blocked of rear door, your stuck inside when...

I’ve sold our VARIO …… & now looking for another vehicle.

Usually a few 5 tonne ones on ebay. Usually loads of 519 ambulances, nearly all auto, mostly euro 5 though, might be a few euro 6, but usually are 400,000 km plus.

I’ve sold our VARIO …… & now looking for another vehicle.

Think I'd come to the same conclusion as you, Iveco Daily. I guess if going over 3.5 tonne, may as well go as close as you can to 7.5 t, if you need that sort carrying capacity. All the other vans are well short of the Daily's 7.2 tonnes. Seems to be a fair few auto Daily's around too, ok...

I’ve sold our VARIO …… & now looking for another vehicle.

What about the Fuso Canter. Truck like looks but smaller than most 7.5 tonnes. Not a recommendation by the way, just another option.

LPG vs Diesel heaters for winter travel Pros & cons

Current van has diesel heater. Still can't make up my mind for the next one, not that there will be a next one soon so have plenty of time to umm and ahh. I have been considering going all diesel, although I can see the advantages of LPG. Diesel heater in earlier vehicle worked at -47, if it...

    Jerry can holder

Thats easy sorted with bull bar. Even when over east, when on tarmac cans on back, going on dirt roads, pull over, kettle on, air down tyres, move cans to the front, 10/15 mins prep, all part of the fun. I'm getting excited just thinking about it, and I'm not even going.

    Jerry can holder

Would be thinking similar. Carry cans on back crossing europe, etc, as soon on rougher roads move to side or even front.
