With the older jerry cans they tend to shed red lead paint, so your funnel needs a good filter. We treat our cans badly, and have found the military ones tougher. I wonder if the stainless jerry cans are made any better?

Just watch out as some of the modern Jerry Cans are so thin they split with the weight of the contents!

I would think of that as a jerry can and a half on it's side. So no baffles. I'd preferer a drinking water tank to be made in food grade white or natural nylon. You'd just need to keep it in the dark.
