    Electric blanket when wild camping

At only 120w Pudsey if it was me I'd just try it out and see how long the battery lasts as 120w would be the max wattage during use on it's highest setting. Certainly in my view a 300watt inverter would be more than sufficient. The best test is to try it suck it and see. Phil.

    Satellites and the fitting of

Morning all, after our trip down to the South of France recently we lost our satellite signal about half way down, not the end of the world but really annoying as we lost not only Sky, freesat but also the radio stations, luckily we had arranged Smarty sims for our phones before we left so could...

    Very off topic

Have to admit Squirrell we went the easy way and payed an installer to fit ours 6kw yes it cost us £8.5k but since Feb when they came on line it has more than halved our leccy bill and we've sold enough back to the grid to more than pay the standing charge, our supplier doesn't except monthly...

    LPG in France

As some might be aware I'm touring France at the moment actually in South of France now. Although the gas We set off with is still plenty and will probably last us till we get home, started with about 16ltrs and have only used about a quarter of that in two weeks so far, its absolutely...

What innovations did you design into your van?

Sorry Dowel Sorry I'm in Biarritz France at the mo and been on the beach enjoying the waves 😁. You can get various sized tiled edging I use an edge that is just greater than the depth of the stretch carpet, I use evostick contact adhesive to glue it to the metalwork of the doors or where ever...

What innovations did you design into your van?

Yes a few. These are Sis in laws van blinds. On mine I just did the back two windows but on my sons we did both rears and he got fed up doing them for his side windows and ended up with swinging blinds when motoring 😆. On the Sis in laws I did both rear doors, both rear sides and both fronts...

What innovations did you design into your van?

One innovation that I have used now on three vans is Ikia eco blinds with a home made cassette, not only are they cheap to buy but also come in varying colours and sizes. The actual cassette can be a bit tricky and time consuming but I feel that the end result is good not only aesthetically but...

Help needed to insure self build

A lot depends on if you get it classed by DVLA as a Motor Caravan, this will then make it somewhat easier to get it insured with an agreed value. However because insurance companies are aware of the DVLA's awkward stance on self builds, many of them will now insure your vehicle at an "Agreed...

    New build Sis-in-Laws Motorhome

Hi ya jonnyboy, No actually it took about the same time 6.5 months nearly full time work. To do it properly I have to say it takes time, but of course if you are going to build the same design exactly each time I can see that it could become a lot faster using the same templates etc. As for my...

    What window company?

I used van pimps, they were the cheapest and very fast on delivery. I have not seen anything that would suggest that their windows are substandard, infact they all seemed very good quality. Phil P.s. These are the windows that I fitted to my sis in laws van, as in my posts on building it on...

This Swiss van pulled up next to us.

Yes I see what you mean Kev, I actually did zoom in on it late last night and was going to say this morning that it was a home built, but got busy readying the van for leaving dinner time for Margam Park Rally and forgot about posting. Phil
