Ventilation?

donkey too

i'm no expert but i thought any form of gas useage inside a van would need ventilation unless you have the door open all the time,

does that mean that I need the door open all the time now I've had my op? As there seems to be a lot of gas emissions now.:lol-049:

Most van windows and rooflights have passive ventilation, but that's not normally enough for cooking. Fit a CO alarm and definitely have a window or rooflight right open near the stove or use an extractor fan like the Fiamma turbo vent. This will be useful for cooking fumes as well as CO. Better still get a CO meter and take various readings in different places to check what levels are like in your van... every van is different. Make sure your flame is burning a clear blue with no yellow or smoke.

Dual Sensor Gas Alarms,

Hello All. I'm Alan, new to this site. 40 years camping experience (Cubs/scouts/army/tons of festivals) but only just got our first campervan, an 02 plate VW T4 that we converted last year. Pretty much all is done, but papnoid at my gas fitting skills (I needn't have been) I fitted one of these discover 12v duel sensing gas alarm model number sla 862 | eBay inside the cupboards close to the gas locker as it was sited over a piece of chassis that made it difficult to put a drop vent in (I will overcome this minor self build hurdle in due course) Because it's inside the cupboards, I bought another one to fit outside the cupboards in Gas of leaks or fumes from the cooker rings. Just before completing the purchase, I decided to order two & give one to a friend, who, unbekown to me, had just bought the same! Anyway, upshot is that I have one spare. I did think of fitting one low down and another higher up as LPG drops and Carbon Monoxide rises, but i'll stick to putting a second one higher in the van and putting a vent in the lower cupboard near the first detector, so if anyone wants a brand new gas alarm, let me know & you can gave it for £20 delivered. As for ventilation, we keep a couple of the expandable (pet vent) grills in the front door widows and leave the sliding side door & rear doors ajar. We've fitted household secirity door chains so we van sleep safe with the doors cracked upen slightly & keep the condensation to a minimum. A sunroof (Peugot 106's fit well to VW T4's apparantly( is on the list, but that bay cause another problem by letting sunlight in too early
