Hi
I want to have a ventilation opening in the side of my van.
I have found several on ebay but none that explains how or guarantee that no water will get into the car but will be trapped and drained out in some way.
Any tips will be appriciated.

I have found that very little water ever enters the fridge vents on any of the vehicles I have converted, yes some enters if the rain is horizontal through gale force winds but then very few if any vents are going to prevent that.
So short of adding a closing vent or small opening/closing window, a small vent with down facing slats as in fridge vents ( Dometic style ) would suffice but expect some water ingress when storm conditions are around or washing ( Jet washing ) your van. Phil:(
