Underslung gas-it tank

Patt

High, I have a gas leak under the van which has been very difficult to find. I detected a slight leak coming from the filter bowl, so ordered a new filter and seal and when fitted it still leaked. I thought it perhaps must have been knocked by a stone so ordered a new updated filter a new regulator whilst I was at it. On fitting the new stuff I have found that the main service tap/valve coming out off the tank has fractured. Can anyone tell me if these are replaceable, if so is it a diy job or do I have to get a gas engineer involved? - I have tried contacting gasit but due to the C19 are not taking phone calls And my emails are going unanswered at the moment. They may have a backlog to get throug.
it will be a mega job to replace the tank as bolted through the floor. (Wish I had put a spot of weld on the bolt heads, ah hindsight !)
any help would be appreciated

The majority of tanks if not all of them are produced in Poland, I very much doubt that you can get spare parts such as you require in the UK, but I would hazard a guess that if you contact the producers in Poland they would be more than happy to accommodate you. The main problem I feel is emptying the tank so as to be able to refit the valve, other than that I would think a competent person would be more than capable to fit one using gas Ptfe or similar. Thanks Phil that’s another good option. i Have just noticed that it is a screw in Union in the valve that has fractured, nothing to get much of a grip on but may yield with an extractor, I will try tomorrow.

Success, extractor bit removed the sheared off Union from the service valve. One 1/4“ BSP straight coupler ordered costing £4 . This could have been a real disaster for me if the broken stub hadn’t yielded or the valve had been damaged on its extraction.
anyway thank you to those who offered me advice

Ha ha, wondered when that would be coming. I was a member of another unmentionable club a few years ago whilst building my van and left like a lot of others. I was just about finished my van when this happened so never got around to joining another. Unlike Squiffy, who I remember gave me mountains of advice on my build who has gone on to still offer builders the benefit of his expertise- sorry to go off topic

Thanks Patt, makes me feel very humble but pleased to think I've helped others along the way, it's not often that you are aware that others appreciate your input, but now you are amongst those that can say " Been there done that and still wearing the "T" shirt. 😁. Phil

You persuaded me - membership paid

Brilliant news Patt and now you are a full member can you please spare some time to put up a whole load of pictures and descriptions of your build, the pitfalls, the hurdles, the god damn lot, so that others can learn from your knowledge?

Honestly it is so great to see another person from a different place who has decided to join the slowly growing ranks of this very friendly place.
