Strange chirping type noise

So when my siding door opens (Iveco daily pvc) I get a strange chirping type noise.
Sometimes it's slightly louder than others and happens at exactly the instant the door is cracked open and presumably the switch on the body that tells when the door is opened goes open circuit.

It's certainly produced by some electrical device that isn't happy, but for the life of me I can't narrow down where the sound is coming from.

What part could make a strange chirpy type electrical noise around the side door!

If I could discover what is making this noise then I may find the answer to another central locking issue that may or may not be connected.

Sounds cryptic I know... But bear with me!

The door closing will operate some kind of switch. In turn the switch will communicate with alarm, central locking and door open warning if fitted.

I had a very similar problem recently with the back barn door lock on my Renault Master which turned out to be the electric activating thing which when locked/unlocked from the key pad made a strange noise.

Sorry, but I can't give this device the correct name as I can't find it on my eBay purchase history and my brain is next to useless these days recalling the names of finite items!! But just as soon as I had fitted it the strange noise went instantly.

The switch certainly seems to operate because when the door is opened the interior light comes on. No alarm on this one. central locking though.

Well, the electric activating thing is about all that's in the door connected to the lock isn't it??? Is it called an actuator... or is it a solenoid? Either way, its the bit that fires the lock into either locked or unlocked position and also moves the manual lock lever. I can't seem to narrow the noise down to that either.

The bigger picture is that since I have had the van, the side, sliding door will lock on the keyfob but not unlock. And recently, as I have said, there is a chirpy type electrical noise coming from somewhere when I open the door.
It's become one of those unsolved mysteries that just bugs you over time.

I have had an auto electrician look at it twice. Checked the contacts and all seems ok but weirdly, when he reverses the polarity to the actuator thingy on the lock it does exactly what it's supposed to do and both locks and unlocks.
So, diagnosis was : Central locking control module failure.
Turns out these are really hard to find. No go from the dealer or any other parts supplier (back order with no expected date). None on ebay.
Frustrating as the control module is marked with various codes which tally with Fiat, Iveco and I think, From memory Renault?
Anyway, due to not being able to source a replacement, I opted for getting it repaired by an electronics guru down here in Devon. He is very highly regarded.
He reported to me that one of the two relays had gone... Bingo I thought... This is the problem, finally! First of all we had to source the specific relay, only available from the US it turns out. Relay ordered. Control module fixed and put back into the van.
Exactly the same. Exactly the bloody same! Door will lock but not unlock on the central locking! And now it makes a weird chirping noise as well.

Any suggestions gratefully received! If we don't get anywhere here I'll post up the problem on the Iveco forum. Trouble is, I don't exactly find them the friendliest bunch. Knowledgeable yes, but also downright unpleasant sometimes. I think possibly the forum owner ( actually a great helpful fella) frequents around here sometimes... Anyway, I digress.

That's a good idea... Now to find a willing test subject!
I can't think of anyone that I know unfortunately. I'd also worry that if there is another fault somewhere it could pop the relay in the borrowed module!
I suppose if I get my module checked again and if the relay is proved to have failed again, it would show some other fault somewhere on the van?

Actuator, yes that's what it is called, thank you Chris for jogging my soggy grey zone.............. As an aside, can't you simply live wire your door locking mechanism simply to isolate the problem as that is what I did once when I had a problem with my sliding door lock?

It may well come to this... Would rather find the problem first if I can. I have a feeling it could be a problem in the loom somewhere.

I thought the actuators were all pretty much the same in vehicles? maybe different mounting points but they could be adapted? (just thinking if you can't get the 'official' ones?).
The noise you get could be from the actuator solenoid straining to move which would tie up with the symptoms described I think?
