I have just endured the singularly most hellish day and I then tuned into the site and I thought it was fatigue causing my eyes to do strange things to me..................... But by eck, now that I realise it wasn't my knackered state of mind and you know what ................ I love the new colours etc..... brilliant.
ps. Just a question for the boss and only asked as a true an proud Brit, can't we go for the English/English alphabet and not this American crap?

Quite a lot of words such as specialise which is how it is correctly spelt in UK English whereas the darned dumb Yankies spell it specialize with a Z and the word spelt which is correct in UK English is marked as being incorrectly spelt !
It drives absolutely around the bloody bend Chris and I know that on other sites when in the past they had the problem they were able to alter the settings (just like you can on your own lap-tops and i-pads) in the language setting from American English to UK English.

Gotcha, you meant English dictionary, I'll ask Admin if it's possible to change it.
Personally, if I can understand what's written, the spelling or grammar doesn't really bother me, but I can see what you mean.

Sorry Chris, but in my commercial past I had to do a very significant amount of both copy-writing and proof reading and so I have always been a person who notices both grammar and spelling even if my own diction and general phraseology is anywhere close to being perfect!!
As a clue, my company once designed, wrote and produced all the display material and information literature for one of Europe's leading drug manufacturers, it was for a new OTC (over the counter) medication to treat diarrhea.
All the copy was written, it was then passed to the client where every single department with the company including their legal department had to sign it off. The copy went backwards and forwards several times for both major and minor copy changes, following which, yet again, every department had to sign it off.
On completion of the design and writing process we then went to printers proofs with these yet again having to be all signed off before finally a very large quantity of both the leaflets and display material were produced and distributed throughout the UK.
Some 3 weeks after the product was launched, our client received a phone call from a pharmacist with broad Welsh accent, who asked the simple question "how to you spell diarrhea boyo"? Yes on one of the leaflets it had been spelt incorrectly despite all the processes the copy had passed through!

I quite agree I can't stand Americanised english, other things that really annoy me are descriptive words they use like "Hood" "Gas" and trunk other automotive descriptions, like "Gear shifter" and the way they say ( le ver age ) instead of leverage, I've noticed recently that commentator's are now using these American terms on the radio and television and it makes me want to scream at them to say I'm British not bloody American.

For clarification, the spell checking is performed by the user's browser, not the forum software.
For anyone using Google Chrome, this may be useful -
To change the language in Google Chrome
Click on the 3 bars at the top right of the browser window, and then choose Settings, then at the bottom click on Advanced.
Under Languages change Language and Spell check to English (United Kingdom). Then restart Chrome.
Other browsers should have similar options.
