Raised Platform bed - what material?

To build raised bed and storage at rear of our Jumbo

We like to have it open for ventilation when we're parked up with the rear doors open...

Especially when next to the sea...

I like to sleep with the sound of the sea WHEN I can....

As we sleep north south in our van my head is at the EXACT point the window is...
Thus lovely surf type noises right next to me ears...

I should point out the reason I built it like this WAS to suit my needs exactly ;-)
