Negative lead on leisures

Hi folks probably a daft question but can i earth my 12 volt leisure batteries system to the same chasis earth that is shared with my 24 volt engines batteries?

I wouldn't thought so, if you are running on 24 volts you would be probably boil the 12 volts battery by too much voltage going into them:mad1::mad1::mad1::mad1::mad1::mad1::mad1:

It doesn't matter where on the chassis you earth them as long as it is a good clean connection so all together is OK, I keep the leads as short as possible though

Yes, assuming that you've got the appropriate 12V & 24V charging systems sorted out for your leisure & starter batteries. Earth, or Ground, is the same whatever the voltage.
I practice I use heavy duty earth return cables direct to the engine block rather than the body/chassis but that is for different reasons.

Well its hard to know what to believe lol:danger:
I have a large bank of trojan batteries set up for 12 volt and my starters next to them which are 24 volt.
My durite charger is a 24 to 12 volt converter .
I would have personally thought that an earth is an earth .
As the 24 volt earthing point for the engines batteries is so close by i fealt it to be prudent to earth the 12volt to the very same point that the 24 volt setup is earthed at.The earth would run to my bm2 battery monitors shunt.

All negative connections should be connected to chassis and the positive terminals will go to the respective 12 or 24 volt chargers and loads.
You will find that the negative input and output leads to the 24 to 12 volt converter are connected internally which in practice does the same job.

Chassis Earth Point

Hi As a matter of safety I would use a separate point on the chassis ie 2 separate bolts if you need to remove one you wont disturb the other
